Re: New Bike Gear Out And Due Out...
Just being a bit mischievous James, it looked a similar colour and concept to the Stooge. Further musing though, I doubt many would choose the Pinnacle for a multi day backpacking epic where a Stooge is de-rigueur. Arguably the Pinnacle is better thought out what with it's fork mounts and double chainset
Re: New Bike Gear Out And Due Out...
^ Ha, I know... Colour yes, but concept? I think a few Stooge owners might take mild offence / laugh that one off : )
I'd be happy taking either for a ride some places. My Chromium town bike had a hipster front rack and was great for doing the shopping on, could've taken it bikepacking tbh. Bikepacking lite anyway. Or TNR, would be great there. I think more bikepacking bikes could be like that Marin. It's all a bit Rivendell / Cali stoner vibes but that's no negative.

Lovely marketing blurb for it
And when did bosses for a top tube bag become a thing?
The world moves so fast
I'm rarely a fan of a painted Ti frame but those are a war-crime."Guy Debord wrote ‘Theory of the Dérive’ in 1956. It is described as “an unplanned journey through a landscape in which participants drop their everyday relations and let themselves be drawn by the attractions of the terrain and the encounters they find there.” It was a movement born out of the inclination to push ones boundaries of everyday life and explore landscapes new and engaging. It was a desire to facilitate new interactions and encounters with people and places unknown, to grow, to learn, and to be aware of more than the mundane and repetitive life within our small comfort zones that we so often encapsulate."

To me, if I needed enough stuff to use 33 mounting points I'd likely just fit a rack and panniers (which I have no issues with) so I don't quite get it.Decathlon wrote: "33 mounts on the frame and fork to attach all your accessories"
Each to their own though
Re: New Bike Gear Out And Due Out...
The current hipster trend is rackpacking to take things full circle.

I've realised that I think I might be dead. I've just looked back through this thread and virtually nothing looks interesting or seems appealing. Now, I'm not saying that's actually the case, hence my concern that I might indeed be dead.

I particularly like the pre-rusted chain and sprockets to take away the maintenance woes.

That's by no means the first drop-barred fatbike I've seen (and I mean JPs). I'm thinking at least 5 years ago, probably 6.

Comes in waves / phases for me. Very little (bikewise) peaks my interest nowadays. Then again I've spent an inordinate amount of time buying a wet&dry vac and a wifi security camera system recently

Not BP but still, we like odd bar shapes right?
Maybe not this kind of odd, but I do like how innovation/marketing finds a way to do something new even with the road bike format

Re: New Bike Gear Out And Due Out...
I saw at least one rider in the grand tours this summer that had an out front GPS mount and a large GPS unit that was effectively using it as an aero bar by gripping the end of the unit. The commentator wondered out loud if the UCI would crack down on that or not.
