Well done Matt. I didn't feel my ears burning but I might have been asleep.
I will shout louder next time...
Worst one probably heading towards Crickhowell, seeing " <--Crickhowell 5 miles"
Then turning right in the opposite direction and up another bastard hill.

Top work Matt. What bike were you on? - not the singlespeed I assume...
Cheers Matt. I was on my trusty Pivot LES 29er. Gearing I think is 32 front, 11-40 rear. I was wishing for a smaller gear quite a bit!
I keep thinking it is time for a new MTB as its pretty old now, but keeps munching out rides like this.

Yes, I had the same thought at that sign that was a real bastard after the previous bastards just after Pandy
Was that a steep tarmac climb turning to a track up to a house?
I had forgotten about that one.
By the end, whenever I saw the "T" no through road sign I just knew exactly what was coming next would end in torture.
I will have to go back to that Church and ride up it. I need to know was it actually steep or if I was just knackered
That was the earlier long climb, that one got me puffing, the one after the sign was closer to Crickhowell that went up past a church before opening up on the grass track at the top, really steep climb!
It was nothing compared with the HAB going up through the trees to the Beacons Way shortly afterwards though

Mynydd Du forest used to be a really popular venue for DH racing in the 00's. While I was walking up there I swear that was the track whilst muttering "Who the hell brings a bike route up a stupid downhill track"
I'm so glad you are all putting names to these tracks, hills and places. Partly so I know where to avoid in future but also as I had no idea where I was in the dark, following the line....!
I did go past a little church on a steep road climb - it looked like the church in the Lost Lanes book and also where Jameso went on his travels in the summer. Still trying to find it on the map as that is somewhere worth a return visit.
I've ridden that church climb in the past (and can prove it via strava!). I couldn't yesterday.
It was a bit of a double edged sword for that as I knew so much of the route that I couldn't help but get pissed off at myself for not riding a lot of it.
Does anyone know what that utterly insane descent off the top off the hill after Hay is called? I want to show a friend. Just, holy sh*t.

Let me recover from being dead, and I'll try and get it for you today some time.

This one ? - I passed it just after leaving Eugene:
A stonking time from Matt there. Glad I didn't sign up for the event in the end, as I wouldn't have made it in my current state of dad-bod unfitness. Think the church climb sounds like Partishow, looks a beautiful church to look inside. Very steep at any time, part of the nice mtb route from Crickhowell over Crug Mawr - only times i've been that way. Good effort from everyone who tried the route

The drops were massive, I struggled to walk down some of them. Don't think I could have even done it in my DH days.
Agreed. I note that Fabio Wibner hasn't made a video of that descent yet which says something !
I assumed that descent was The Gap that folk were referring to. - Where is The Gap then ?
