Genesis Fortitude Adventure experiences?

Post by Ben98 »

Has anyone got one? Do you like it? What would you change?
I've decided its my ideal MTB, so would like to know what people think of it?

For how much you can pick one up for now (1/2 price and on 0% iirc) they seem a bargain. If you're happy with the concept of £1000 push bikes of course.

I have the Fortitude Race and think it is ace.... I didn't pay anywhere near full price though.

Lots of deals to be had as they have stopped making them already...

Dropped already? I wonder if the "no suspension" angle killed them? What a shame.

Yes I think it was the fully rigid steel bike with no possibility of running suspension that meant it did not sell large numbers...

People aften ask me why I bought a bike with so fews gears, big wheels and no bouncy bits...

I blooming love it, that's why...

Have to say I did worry about the lack of low gearing especially as I got it after this years WRT. But now I am used to it, I reckon I could ride the WRT route without too much difficulty.

Hope so, as I am using it for the BB200!

Good man. I'll probably be on my Fargo. Trying to persuade my mate onto a sale price fortitude but he's convinced he needs a full Susser for comfort.

Just explain to him that the sole purpose of suspension is to aid grip, anything else is a happy accident. Suspension doesn't mean you can stand up less or stay seated more often ... that's just poor technique ;)
May the bridges you burn light your way

I'll point him towards this thread, but he's Portuguese! :D

I've started encouraging him on longer rides and doing them all on a rigid bike to prove its do-able! He's even said he prefers the long gentle tours over a singletrack thrash.... can't help some people!

The MTB market in general disappoints me : ) Didn't need to sell that many to be viable - maybe it ending up as 3 models was the issue for the distributor. It was intended to be one do-it-all rigid ATB originally. Maybe rigid is just for old-schoolers and pootlers ;)

Hope not!

I run my 26" bike rigid too...
