I'm going through that process now having moved house. Not really cycling equipment, but lots of outdoor kit. I'm selling loads of stuff and I'm amazed at how much good quality kit I've bought and found to be unsuitable for some reason, and then hoarded. On the plus side, it's turned out to be a bizarre, loss making savings scheme.

LOL. I recognise that madness

I've been ridding myself of some stuff recently. More will follow soon. Much more probably.

I do but most if it too good to throw out but not really of any use - 3 x9 speed XTR rings anyone?
My worst bit is having a seperate wardrobe for cycling gear - it has way more clothes than my actual clothes.

As I’ve just found out, now is a good time to get rid of stuff. Seems to be a sellers market out there.

I went through the "getting rid of" phase a while ago, boxes and boxes of old stuff. At the time the Bristol bike jumble was my friend, I doubt that's running now though.

That is the reasoning of a young man and the reason we've all got piles of old crap. :-bd

YES, I still use the XTR960 triple daily, rings not easy to come by now.

Steve all that crap comes in useful in later years, I'm surviving on all my old crap since I quit work. And don't even start on how many tyres

I only ever consider it to be a problem when I’ve got more than a bike’s worth of spares. Thankfully I’m still at least a frame and fork short of that, but I have a fair few random wheels dotted around.

Good to know it’s not just me. Found a dynamo and voltage control box from my first car (mk1 escort) in one box. Got to be worth a small fortune to someone. Lawnmower engine with knackered main bearings - just in case I might need it. And so much bike kit - I could set up my own cycle repair business I think!

Sadly its a set from a M970 crankset so wont fit
My 960 is "jonesed " and used on the Single speed - not that easy to get the middle ring but not as hard as the rest

i buy things i want and sell em straight on if i dont like em orf they dont works for me.

therefore i dont accumulate much rubbish stuff.

cant see the point in keeping things that you might use in 5 or so years or maybe never.

sell it and buy something else

money is only any use when being spent.

Ah M970 got one of those too on a worthless 26" Ibis. I just sold a lovely Pace with my Jonesed 960 and might have some US custom made single rings for one. Could be a trade 😁

Got too much crap? It's not your fault, you're off the hook, you've been manipulated into it. We know all that, but interesting to hear it again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnPmg0 ... e=youtu.be. Just watched it.

Now where's that patio heater / leafblower / banana holder / bellybutton hoover / gravel bike got to.....

Just watched episode 1, very interesting especially the Nazi party stuff, of course I feel duty bound not to believe any of in case I’m being manipulated

Just finished ep3 one of the final lines is “ while these new beings felt liberated they had become increasingly dependent for their identity on business”
In favourite scene in ‘ The life if Brian’ is where Brian tells the gathered crowd that “You’re all individuals” a lone voice pipes up saying “ I’m not!”
It seems the marketing people have even got a category for him and a way to sell him stuff.
We’re all doomed.

Well worth watching.
