Charred broccoli salsa mexicana
Jerk chicken, jerk sauce, pineapple
5 spice sweet potato
I like the unpredictability of that. A little frisson of uncertainty and danger. It's good for you. The only teeeeeeensiest fault that I can find there is that it wasn't five puddings.......

Cheery at the start, then a decidedly non-cheery bit, finishing back to cheery
Decided to take advantage of the stunning weather and the reduction in restrictions to do a decent day ride on the gr***l bike. I'd been going for about 2 and half hours (nearly 40 miles....) when I became aware of the back tyre suddenly making a thumping noise every rev. On looking I discovered a substantial embolism on the tyre - an inch round bulge growing before my very eyes. Managed to let the air out of the valve before it totally let go and spray sealant all over me, took the trye off to discover that the carcass was totally delaminating with loose threads everywhere over nearly a third of the inside of the tyre.

Oh sh*t. Fortunately I had my full tyre first aid kit with me so made with two park tyre boots, all my motorcycle inner tube patches, and crucially an 8" section of self adhesive Kevlar puncture proof strip which I've carried for several years for this very eventuality. Through it all together and inflated to about 30psi then wobbled my way slowly home. The tube deflated about 7 miles from the house so I bunged the (second) spare in. This lasted until about 200m from the house....

Learning point? Don't buy vee tyres. Celebrated my ingenuity with a couple of pints of lager shandy in the blazing sunshine :-bd

Steady Reg, steady..... don't worry, Steve means that the necessary beer and main courses were of a suitable standard (as were the charging facilities needed at the time 😐).
Normal and correct BB standards were maintained with suitably expensive shelters pitched in a field hoping nobody noticed.

Seems to be today again. I'm reasonably cheerful because a couple of days ago I was down at our river and must have got bitten on my wrist by something like the killer rabbit in Monty P's Holy Grail. Didn't feel it but later on my forearm just about doubled in size. Could have been booked as Popeye for kids parties. Or at least doing balloon impressions. Anyway, seems to be going down now or it could have been an amputation job I reckon.

Talking of the river, may as well have a BBB Sunflower update. Planted about 12 at the river, but every time I go to water them one of them has had its top bitten off! Maybe by the same little sod that bit my wrist  . Does it one at a time to piss me off. Now down to 8. Time to install some defences:

Two of the six left in the garden have had something stripping the "bark" off the bottom couple of inches of the stalk. So, wrapped loads of silver foil round 'em and see if that helps. It's a warzone out there.

Not so cheery, I'm starting my second week in hospital. My temperature keeps spiking and they don't know why. On my third and fourth antibiotics now. They thought pericarditis but now they're wondering if it's something left over from my broken ribs 18 months ago. :o

We'll see. I've had 5 covid swabs - the latest tonight coz of a horrible dry cough I've picked up.

Have fun, and don't feel too sorry for me. As a good friend said,

"If you're looking for sympathy, it's between symphony and syphylis"

Don't spoil it by nit-picking

Don't worry Lu, I'm far removed from the sympathetic type (who knew) but that's pretty crap none the less. Take some consolation in the fact that it's now turned cold and wet :-bd

On Brading Down, close to the site of my first bivi (but that has noting to do with this story) there is a little car park where the walkers can park up before heading out. For a while now there has been a scruffy caravan there and a transit parked next to it. I went past today, I don't know if they've had grief from the red sock brigade or they just have a good sense of humour but there is now a sign on the back of the van

I’m out of hospital. Huzzah! After 11 days in Acute Cardio Unit, then 5 more in the covid ward. I haven’t gone home though, in case I infect my wife, who is vulnerable. I’m staying with my daughter, self isolating for a week. I’m still very weak - walking from room to room can have me sitting down until the dizziness passes. But, I’m free :-bd

It’s a day late for cheery Friday but I was too knackered yesterday.
