Off Topic Help Please
Not bikepacking related but after a favour for my wife....
It's Jane's 50th Birthday on the 28th May and obviously she wont be getting to do much celebrating She does have the day off so at least she wont be spending it at work but on the flip side she will have to spend the day with me
As it's a special birthday I didn't apply for a place on the HT550 this year as it clashes but now that's been cancelled it's not such a grand gesture.
I was wondering if anyone who's met her or even if not and just feel sorry for her having to put up with me, would you be able to send her a birthday card? Only if you can purchase and send it safely .
If you are able to then PM and I can let you know the address to send it to.
Thanks in advance.
Sean

Re: Off Topic Help Please
I'm sure I have it but email it me anyway Sean. Is there any things or subject matter she's keen on?
May the bridges you burn light your way

Thanks Stu. This may sound odd, but the only thing I can think if is Alpacas/Llamas The chap who lives over the road from us has some and Jane often threatens to get some, luckily our garden is too small.Bearbonesnorm wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 11:25 am Is there any things or subject matter she's keen on?
But anything would be greatly appreciated I'm sure. She's got it tough at the moment. Apart from having to put up with me, her brother (who lives on the mainland so we can't visit) has terminal cancer and her job is Covid 19 research and she's doing the data entry for the deaths So anything to distract her from these.

Hi Sean,
happy to! My youngest daughter is an A-level art student so I'll get her to create something. PM to follow, but not for a while as I should be working.

Hello Sean
Its a bit tenuous, but you did tell me about her when we rode together on the Dales Divide last year so I feel I know her well enough to sent a card and its my sisters birthday the same day so I shouldn't forget. Send me the address.

What's the worst than can happen?
Re: Off Topic Help Please
Hi Tim, I'm bound to have mentioned her, anyone who's met me will know I talk non-stop so I must have got round to mentioning her at some point

I had to google that to find out what they were, they look close enough to me plus I learnt something new

Yeah, incredibly beautiful, graceful animals.
The arid regions they inhabit makes them even more amazing.

One sent over, it may look a little home made...
Re: Off Topic Help Please
That's fine.
She's also been receiving cards from her friends who have remembered and all the cards are together ready to open on the day. Jane's originally from the Mainland so many of her friends live there. When she gets home from work she looks at the new cards and the postmark to see where they're from and is getting confused as she can't think if anyone who lives in some of the areas

Re: Off Topic Help Please
Jane has asked me to pass on her thanks for all the cards etc. she was made up with them, if a little confused until I explained
As there's not much we can do today the obvious thing was a bike ride. We rode over to her mum's and sat in the garden.
Her mum had left a cake out for us We were self sufficient for drinks
Nothing quite says bikepacker as much as screw top prosecco in a titanium mug Once again, thank you all for your efforts.
