"pubs doing take-away food". Interesting one that. There's a boozer in our town doing it as well apparently. So what do they expect you to do once you've "taken it away" I wonder? Oh look, there's some handy tables, chairs, sunbrollies, etc just over here outside the pub.... amaaaa-a-a-a-a-a-zing coincidence!

As it's around 36 hours before Friday morning ride off (when you're ready, not when Stuart says around 1pm  )

So this is the last call for any virtual pairs to join up and help each other out.

FYI, It takes about 2 hours to research 10 good grid refs in another's area.

Barney is now sorted for GR's.

Please try and take a photo are each Grid Ref and post them up on the how it when thread that Reg or I will start.

Join in, there's no rain forecast (for some of us) and pack warmer clothes in your bothy for Sunday as the temps will drop from 20's to the 10's for the final day of the May virtual WRT 2020 :-bd

Done mine now too Steve, 64 miles 8 GR's hit.
You've picked some lovely spots to brew up so the stove will definitely be coming with me :-bd

This has been a great way to find new spots local to you.
Reg did me 12 (the 13th was too far out of the way and on a busy cycleway at the weekend)
I'll get the one in the sea (beach)
But there are 5 grid ref's and trails I've never thought of doing or going to see.

Take photos at the grid ref's if you can.

Worth mentioning that I chose John's in-the-sea GR to be at a feature called "Mad Wharf". You don't have to be... to be a bikepacker but....

Reckon it's reachable on a fatty if it's Low Water. Have you checked the tide tables John? Maybe this will be the first ever WRT sea GR that someone's actually ticked off?

With my groups of GRs I've discovered that I have a directional bias to going clockwise - I just assumed I'd go that way round. I then thought I might force myself to do them all widdershins as part of the game, but my brain seems curiously resistant. I might just fall back on my usual ploy of maximising off-road downhills and on-road uphills. Or maybe even a Benconnolli-style coin-flip just before I set off. In fact the coin-flip could equally apply to which GR group for which day. What jinks!

Sunday is the lower tide in the morning, I'll get it.

I put Barney on the beach too, but only just on the sand so the tide shouldn't matter too much for him.

On this morning's ride I rode between two of your grid refs that you sent me Reg and the gate blocking the track is locked up tight with no way to get a bike through the very narrow gap at the side.
So, it's a detour that will be needed.
Not to worry it's all part of the fun....

I've packed my kit. As the forecast is sunny I've not packed my waterproofs. If it subsequently rains do I have to just get wet or can I add to my kit from the campsite's* range?

Looking forward to this, good idea John. I should have been packing for Scotland but sleeping in the garden is better than moping about.

* the garden  I also hear they have a selection of bottled ales available and there's rumour of a pop-up cafe

"add to my kit from the campsite " - "no campsites, or equipment/food dumps, allowed". You're not going to find a coat at your 'bivvy spot'. Embarrassing damp patch for you it is then old bean  .

Actually, maybe the, er, CAFE on your route could loan you a jacket, that'd be allowed wouldn't it since it's open free to 'everyone'? Gawd this is getting even more confusing  .

Great spread thanks.

Packed and ready for an early start tomorrow (to beat the muppets to the trails)

Image

Luckily the bothy is secure so I've stashed my other bikes in there so it's a different bike each of the 3 days.
The a joining shelter has a shower, great cooking facilities, a cook, a TV and WiFi.
The grass area is recently cut and it ready for 2 nights of kipping on

PS, I even have the paint for the fence ready for tomorrow afternoon

Sorry guys (and Taylor who did my points) that's probably me out. My wrist has gone doolally this evening after gardening, can hardly use my hand. Steroid injection over due.

I'll keep my routes to do once it settled.

Hopefully you all have fun.
