How about a homeless charity?
That seems apt.

Next step is to choose our "platform". Google Hangouts seems to work for My Very Active Girlfriend, but you can only have 10 on a video conference. If this takes off, that may not be quite enough. Or do we need video? Will just voice do?
Zoom seems to be the platform that most are using at the moment. Although there is "some" privacy concerns, like the fact they were "sending" data to Evil Company #2 (Facebook).
There are theories at the bottom of my jargon.

Some research done and I think ZOOM is the goer. Ive just downloaded it to my phone from the AppStore and looks to be a doddle. Plus you can get up to 100 folks on there, which should just about do it.

If I understand it, I can start a new meeting and share the meeting number ... or do I have to send a link .... anyone know how she works? Might do some practice with the Chilterns lot this evening.

I'd been thinking about getting back in on the BAM action then, just as my back got better (vaguely working and without 24/7 pain), BOOM, it's only the blimmin' end of the world as we know it... :-bd

So, in theory, I'm interested in a garden-based BAM and quite possibly up for doing it on a set night in cahoots with some folk on here.

But.....no more interest in broadcasting said nano-adventure than I'd have in facebook live streaming my usual nights out bivi-ing.

Can I join in but be antisocial about it or am I missing the point???

Using Zoom for virtual pilates class and it seems pretty good, can't imagine Facebook would be interested in a middle aged bloke doing contortions!
You can turn vision off Gari so people only hear your voice!

Sure, I'll happily leave my mic on all night to let everyone hear my nocturnal noises but you can sure I'll not be reciprocating as if I wanted to be kept up all night with farting and snoring I'd stay inside with the wife and kids ;)

Nocturnal noises? Snoring?
You always said it was the wild boar making noises all night.

ZOOM it is then. If everyone interested could download it, I will set a meeting time and post the ID number on Saturday.

Can we have some agenda items please? I'll start.

Tour de YourCamp: show us you bivvy and talk us through your set up. Here I must warn you: I will have all the trimmings, with my hammock slung between my apple trees. Anyone who has ever bivvied with me knows I like my comforts and will load my bike to the gunwales. You can TLS if you like. Not me. So you can imagine what a bivvy in my garden is going to be like.

On this: I still think we should set a flexible rule that everything used should be able to be packed on your bike.* What say you?

*except my fire pit. No way am I not having a stupid big fire in my fire pit.

Pffft .... honestly, every time we click yes to cookies someone somewhere is harvesting our data. I really don't give a monkey's.

EDIT: sorry mate, that was disrespectful. If anyone is worried about this issue, let's find another way.

This is a great idea. Kudos for the original thinking.

Out of work as of the end of the month, but happy to donate to donate to whatever charity is decided on as there are many far worse off than me.

You right Rich? You gonna join us next weekend then?

I've just been told my contracted hours are being reduced by 50% .... grrrk. No idea how I will make ends meet on half salary but as I said to my manager, I'm bloody glad they've not just sacked me. I'm a self-employed contractor, but only been doing this for six months, so the government programme doesn't apply to me. Might go back on The Game ....

Maybe, it's hard to say as things are very up in the air for me right now with one thing or another.

Come on mate. Sounds like you could do with a distraction. How about you come on sleeping on some bubble wrap with a bin bag for a bivvy ... teach us all about making do with less.

Rich mate you are welcome in person and/or in virtual reality.

Speaking of which, Reg has noticed that the free ZOOM app calls only last for 40 minutes. Freaking heck. Why is this so hard? Maybe we can sort a couple of slots so we can bang on longer. I'm not good at this so if anyone has any suggestions, puuuuhlrease chuck them up.

In the meantime, I've been testing my tea lights ....

Our work from home coms was discord, designed mainly for gaming but fits the bill. They have a limit of 50 and do text, voice, or video. Like gaming you can have one person Livestream video with everyone else piping up and commenting on it.

I'm out in the garden tonight but definitely up for VBAM

Use Zoom for work on my laptop and phone so I'm okay on that front.

It'll need to be soon please because I'd prefer to get it in before my Spot subscription runs out.

We're aiming for Saturday 4 April, so next weekend. Hope that works for folks.

Quite like the sound of VBAM, but MuddyPete has decided we're the Backyard Boners.

Now if only there was a way to edit the thread topic

I merely proposed the title, Mr Chairman. I seem to recall it was endorsed unanimously by the committee.
