Revelate Spinelock Seat Bag
A review of the new Revelate Spinelock Seat Bag is up on bikepacking.com. Looks really trick, if a bit spendy...
There are theories at the bottom of my jargon.

Yes looks very good, I have the porcelain rocket seat pack and it’s superb. What I particularly like about this the minimal fitting which remains when you don’t have the bag attached. The mini rack on the PR is a little faffy to remove so I just leave the it attached all the time.

In a world of copycat products, it's good to see that Eric can still innovate.

Isn't that a very similar system to the one employed by Carradice? In a world of copycat products, it's good to see that Eric can still innovate.

I lol’d a bit at the Ortelieb advert that popped up as I am looking for something to replace mine which suffered strap clasp failure. I like the idea of reducing highly stressed clasps. I’m in.

Happened to mine too Dave... Came with 5 year warranty and I was still in the first 5 months so had its swapped over (by Rutlands or Tritons). Now I just make sure I tighten first and then clasp it after (ie. Don't tighten the straps whilst clasp is clipped in) and seems to be working wellDave Barter wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2020 9:55 pm I lol’d a bit at the Ortelieb advert that popped up as I am looking for something to replace mine which suffered strap clasp failure. What's the thinking behind this Shaf, is it a Ortilieb recommendation? My clasp failed in an area where there was no strap contact so I'm not sure friction would have been a factor?redefined_cycles wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2020 11:19 pmHappened to mine too Dave... Re: Revelate Spinelock Seat Bag
Nah... aftrr it failed and the store replaced it... I just put some thought into how id been using it. Hence stopped (tightening the straps after plugging em together) how i thought id been using and ensured when I'm clamping it I'm taking up all the slack with my hand/arm...
Personally i think its just a bad/weak design (of clasp) which doesn't like to be tugged and pulled and watNot all at the same time.... Must be a regular occurance as they sell the clasps (AFAIR) as aftermarket aswell... Besides, I think I read that one of your Ortlieb bags gave up on the TDR which tells me their bikepacking sruff is probably not as robust as their standard panniers...

As an aside;
Wildcat launched the Tiger in 2012, also a waterproof saddle bag to use a modular holster system for quickly detachable, off-bike packing and unpacking. Just sayin’Perhaps the most pivotal milestone was in 2013 when Revelate Designs launched the Terrapin, the first waterproof saddle bag to use a modular holster system for quickly detachable, off-bike packing and unpacking.

Indeed, I thought it was early but couldn't find the old timeline that used to be on the wildcat site.
Anyway, those that know...know.

Re: Revelate Spinelock Seat Bag
Can I second both them statements. Someone mistakenly sold me theirs... Will be with me many a year to come (full framebag it is and I even repaired it as it'd seen better days). Amazing piece of kit (I've had a Revelate halfbag.. got an Alpamayo and my other one is an Apidura)... Well done Beth/Ian...

Re: Revelate Spinelock Seat Bag
I purchased the 16 litre version from Andy at Backcountry Scot.

My first bit of Revelate kit. Looks to be very well made. Maybe a bit fiddly to line the holes up to mount the bag to the bike.
But I'll live with that as the bag is so stable.
