anyone have any tips on how to remove the dried glue its the size of a pound coin, what would happen if i placed a clean rag over the glue and used a steam iron to try and melt the glue

I am a wood worker and use pu glue a lot, its totally waterproof so steam wont do it , cellulose thinners might soften it a little but it's very strong stuff, good luck.
What's the worst than can happen?

does it damage carpet though ? make the dye run melt it ?
I have no idea but i would want to test that and use as little as possible on the glue/carpet.

the dye never ran but the carpet delaminated a bit on the woven cloth backing
