Building my Pinnacle Ramin: What you got to offer

Post by redefined_cycles »

Its this lovely thing viewtopic.php?f=9&t=15841&p=198091#p198091 that I'm now ready to build for the little un (well 14 going on 15 now). Cannot afford and nor do I wish to spend loads as he's a (blimmin) Fortnite boy.

Been entered for his DofE and apparently taking bike out is a thing (or somethibg like that). Allen used it with 29er guise but...

Needed

Wheels: prefer some 650B but will accept 29er rims aswell
Front fork: prefer a boost (tapered obviously  ) but wheels will dictate fork and visa versa I suppose. AFAIR the back end is quick release.
Rubber: I think I got some 650b semi fat tyres but if it turns out to be 29er then I might need what you got..
Bars and Stem: I might have or might not. Need it pretty short and economical (prefer not to have OnOne but dont wanna spend an arm
Gearing: cassette (though I'll probs get this new with a chain); cranks; shifters; rear mech (hopefullywe will get some 1+ system going on there. Prefer Shimano please

See my post down there for saddles and seatposts.

The Specialized seatpost with Phenom saddle is good (and new looking). Seatpost is 30.9mm diameter

I have some TRP 160mm rotors and grips a choice of DMR Death Grip or ESI 5" Chunkie available.
For some reason I have a spare new Shimano XT FD low mount side swing 11 speed.
And an XT QR 135mm skewer with all the bits.
Zazen - nothing happens next this is it.

I have Tektro cable disc brakes that came off my Calibre Dune that you can have. In fact, I've pretty much got everything that came off it, stem, bars, seatpost saddle, etc. If it fits, you're welcome to it all. I'll have to have a dig around in the shed to get it all out and take photos for you etc though, if you're interested.
There are theories at the bottom of my jargon.

For ref... I measured up and seems its not boost afterall. Its a Ramin 2 (knew it was 29er but had hoped I might get lucky with using thicker 650b tyres but probably wishful thinking as I didnt exactly measure with my tires properly)

Bottom bracket is 73mm
Dropouts are 135mm rear and (after purchssing the forks) 100mm front. Both ends quick release. so if anyone has some spare quick release wheels knockin about I'm keen.. Might even get away with 27.5 rims as it might make it better for his height even :-bd

Thanks again everyone and if I've missed acknowledgement for anyone offering summat, apologies, and much much thanks...

Hopefull the next few days might bring in further gear/offers. Ton, what stems do you have there please Kind sir...

I've got some 29er wheels sat here which I've been meaning to build some rims onto my old Hope hubs to replace. Standard QR front and rear, disc only (no rotors), Shimano Deore hubs, generic rims. Need a rear skewer - might be able to find one if you're desperate. I've got a wheel box in the garage that some mudguards came in from SJS so they're good to go. £70 posted if you're interested? Probably the weekend before I can get them posted mind.

Hmmm. Tempted but, for the mo, might hold out to see if the budget can be followed more closely :-bd ... much appreciated still

I think you already have cranks but I acquired/was gifted a set of SRAM X5 2x10 cranks. They're basically new. 175 length, 38/24. BB in matching condition.

Sorry all. Not had a chance to update this in a while.

Thanks for all the kind offers...

Colin, I'll pribas give that crankset a miss as i could do with a shorter crank arm.

Ton, I might at some point ride over to Leeds to take a look in your little spares box to see what I might wanna take..

James, I'm not sure I messaged you already but in case I didn't, yes please to the brakes and potentially cranks: lemme know how to send forth postage payment...

ctznSmith, lowball offer... hmmmm let me think biut it some more :???: £30 posted?? (Or collected if you're within 50 miles from me at Dewsbury)..

Slarge and Mariner, thanks also to you 2 but for the mo I think I'll give them bits a miss (but might rethink after I've accumulated some more choice bits)...

Specialist Hoprocker, the forks came through and their lovely :-bd
