Calling all Pinnacle Ramin 3+ owners
I recently picked up a used Pinnacle Ramin 3+ and I’m very happy with it.
There were a few minor niggles (slipping seat post, useless chain guard, crap grips), but these were soon sorted.
I was wondering if anyone else out there in Bear Bones Land also had one and what they think of them?
Cheers!

It was those reviews that led me to the bike in the first place!
Thanks for that.
Any long term good or bad points?

Not really. I am about to buy it some new brakes as I think the calipers have developed the Shimano 'micro-leak' problem but I consider myself to be to blame there as I haven't used the bike for some time and I've always had the problem after a lay-up. Otherwise, it's still great.

I hadn’t realised that you’d kept it.Bearbonesnorm wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 11:57 am Not really. That’s excellent!
I’ve recently bought a used Thorn Sterling with a Rohloff hub (for 3 times the amount Big Orange cost) and was going to sell the Ramin. That was until I rode both of them and the underdog turned out to be much better!
Now I’m keeping the Ramin and the Sterling is going!
Maybe I’ll spend the money on some bikepacking gear instead?

Oh yeah, I bought it ... so it must be good
I don't really know how well the Ramin+ sold but I do wonder whether it would / could have sold more had it being more expensive. Did the price make some people think it wasn't up to much?

Maybe a bit of bike snobbery in action, with the combination of an “own brand” make and a low price?Bearbonesnorm wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 12:36 pm Oh yeah, I bought it ... so it must be good

Dozey buggers!
They also have a crap resale value.
Mine had only been ridden for 25 miles and only cost me £400!!!
I’m keeping my eyes open for more to use as a 2nd bike or even just for spares!
Re: Calling all Pinnacle Ramin 3+ owners
I wish I'd had the money to buy one at the time, especially when they went on sale, so it's a shame they've not produced anything really equivalent since.

Yes I've got one nicknamed the Tangerine Tractor.
I've done a lot of miles on it. Current guise is 29+ up front and 27.5+ out back. Sort of a semi-fat mullet.
I love the fact i can run it singlespeed without a tensioner. I nearly sold it a while back after entering a 'race' in December and struggling to keep up due to the fat and heavy wheels I had. Then i remembered this is my fun bike not a race bike and I've decided its definitely a keeper.
I'm just waiting for a set of Stooge Moto bars for it and i think it'll be perfect. In fact I'm looking to slim down the bikes from 5 to 2 and I think it'll be one that remains.

I’ve called mine several names, some of which Sweary Dave would be proud of!
I think I’ve settled on Big Orange.
Can’t quite imagine what that wheel set up looks like but sounds interested!
I’m considering trying out 29ers, but having to much fun on the B+.
If you ever want to sell it, let me know

A couple of years ago I was looking to change the wheels to narrower ones on my fat bike, but it turned out to be cheaper to buy a 650b. At the time, Stu had just got his Ramin and was full of praise for it and when one came up on eBay, it became mine. It came with Ragley bars, 1x11 NX gears and an oval 34 tooth chain ring. Moto bars were taken from my fatty and a smaller chainring put on to make it easier for my poor ole lungs/heart on the hills.
Since its arrival, the fs bike has gone to the back of the queue and fatty only comes out in the winter.
Moto bars sure help with steering heavy with bikepacking gear.
Done loads of BAM on it and day rides too. It's my go-to bike

There’s nothing like the magic tractor combo of a Rohloff paired with 29+
My Krampus/Rohloff feels apocalypse ready when I take it out!

I know a normal 29er wheel can fit, but not sure about 29 plus.

Re: Calling all Pinnacle Ramin 3+ owners
It'll only just fit 27.5 x 3.0 on the rear so 29+ won't fit at the back.

Thanks keep debating a 29 rear 29plus front on it, I wonder if a 2.6 29 will fit in the back
