Al: 'beer ropey' - good local knowledge there ta. Trouble is no food sez Bells, and Castle is Chilterns-level pricewise (although could hardly be tinier portions ). Didn't really want to mention the P or O words after last year's cat-herding booking the Ragleth but have got a small table early evening at the Tuns so feel free to piggyback on that anyone. Easy to move on after food of course - I've got this image of different groups of BBBers randomly wandering in and out of various establishments during the evening bumping into each other in a progressively more unstable state (mental as well as physical  ). Obviously far easier to just grab a Co-Op pie, but it is the season to be jolly, ho ho ho.

Either that or it's all round to Al's  .

The chip shop is decent.

I’m doing the salop sludger during the day, but will try and track you down afterwards.

Can offer some easy bivi options if you don’t want to travel far form the pub: we’ve got a little patch of woodland with a fire ring your welcome to to use and there is a barn if the weather is crap.

Ok, late in here. There's no takers for the Chilterns Winter Bivvy, probably because, despite the fact that the sleeping accommodation is stellar, the ride is dull as a dull thing.

So maybe I can come along on this one? I'm still fat and slow and not particularly good company, plus I will moan endlessly about then hills/cold/rain, but once we get to the pub I'm pretty good company ... not really.

Stu/Reg, can you save me from reading through every post and repost the intended start/finish and route thinking?

Reg is in charge but will deny everything

My understanding is that it's a free for all but the aim will be to diverge on the Three Tuns in Bishops Castle sometime early on Sat evening.

Was just penning a reply but Stu overtook me! Seeing your reply to his reply, I'll stop replying (er).

Shame not to have you along - could've been a "3 Lions Revisited" . You sure?

It's all very ramshackle at the moment. If I can pull my finger out I might PM a phone-numbers list round next week so at least people can home in on each other on the day. Know of at least 12 showing interest so far so it should be interesting! All I'll say is if anyone wants Three Tuns food (see their website) they'd best book with them in advance - BDS, Pickers, ScottyWoods, SteveM and meself are feeding at 18.30 but I'm selfishly not offering a general cat-herding service, apologies.

PS. I deny everything.

Much as I'm not keen on over-planning, the 3 Tuns are now expecting six of us for nosh at 18.30 - BDS, Pickers, Scotty, SteveMorg, Taylor and meself. They're booked solid after that time so it's the chip shop for everyone else or a potnoodle in the bus shelter.

Will be at the station at about 11.55 Saturday, then the crossroads at bottom of Burway Rd about midday. Might grab a sarnie from somewhere or lunch on the train, then we can set off promptly after arguing about which route to take over the Mynd.

Says here there's 20% chance of bit of sleet but not too bad, and sadly above freezing.

Hope Bishop's Castle know what they're in for  .

Have PM'd some phone numbers round various peeps.

That's brill! You must've somehow convinced them that we're a perfectly demure and genteel bunch of polite society's finest.

Fellow warriors of the wasteland*, I'm sorry to report that I won't be with you at weekend. I've had a fairly sh1tty year with regard to circumstance and things catching me out at the last minute and now I have Norovirus - sh1tty end to the year indeed.

I shall be thinking of you.

We'll miss you Stu, I had wondered when I saw your 'virus' post the other day. And obviously
sorry to hear you're under the weather  . Wishing you a speedy recovery.

All,

Change of plan I’m afraid - my daughter now needs picking up from Uni on Saturday, not Monday as originally planned so I’m on long range taxi duties and won’t be able to make it.

Cheers
