27+ rim width?
I'm looking for a set of 27+ wheels for my Sherpa.
What width rim width would be ideal for a 2.8?
Thanks

Re: 27+ rim width?
45's (external width that is) would be ideal but you could run 35's if you thought you may run normal tyres or 50's if you want to go full plus 3" at any point
Re: 27+ rim width?
The Idea of running normal sizes and plus sounds good.
Maybe I'll go for 35s

Yeah - 45-ish. If you run tubeless (and why wouldn't you?) then a second set of 29er wheels for thinner tyres makes more sense. That's the approach I took - though I've only done about 200 miles on the 29er wheels as I get on so well with the B+ setup.
Re: 27+ rim width?
make sure your forks take a 29 er tyre as the reba 650 B + ones dont

Mine do.
Or maybe I have 29er Rebas that take a 3" B+ tyre?

Re: 27+ rim width?
There's little point in running big tyres without a decent width rim ... it's the rim that produces the volume thus, the benefit. Otherwise you're partially just dragging round extra weight for minimal gain. buy some 40mm or 45mm and embrace it properly.
May the bridges you burn light your way

I've got a set of non boost that could be converted too boostScotRoutes wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2019 6:46 pm Yeah - 45-ish. Re: 27+ rim width?
they did 650 b only and one that does both - so yes you have the 29 er version as shown by the fact it fitsMine do.

OP you will be fine as that is a 29 er one
they have a sticker on one fork leg that says the size

Re: 27+ rim width?
35mm with a 2.8" is the sweet spot for me. 45 or 50mm pushes the tyre a bit too square in profile.
45mm rim if you're going with a 3" tyre.
Hope Tech 35w wheels give a lot of bang for your buck.

Re: 27+ rim width?
I’d go the whole hog and get the widest rim and tyre you can squeeze in.
My Krampus has FatLab 55 rims (internal 51mm) for running with 3.0 tyres.
In my mind if you are going to go for a plus set up then it really should be plus as possible to get the most benefit and difference from your standard wheels.

Re: 27+ rim width?
I have 35 (internal width) Dt Swiss rims on mine... been fine with 2.5 (I don't think I'd attempt anything smaller as it might become a little tight getting on) and up to 3.0 Vitt Bombolonis were looking good too. Currently on 2.6 actual width tyres and feel nice
