I'll be biving as that's one of the reasons I'll be riding 2 days to get there. On Google earth there are some ruins to the west of the quarry which would give some shelter from the weather if it's really bad?

If others want to use the bunkhouse that's fine as well. Looking forward to this, I've already got my route from the Island to Bovey Tracey planned and have started to think about kit...perhaps that's a bit too keen

The quarry is only about 3k out of Princetown so it makes a good spot to ride out to after dinner at the Plume if that's the idea. The ruins are technically outside of the wild camping zone in the national park, but I don't think that will be a problem in the middle of December, 😊

Excuse my ignorance, is the same date as the Winter Bivvys around the UK?
Got room for another?
Cajun chicken at the Plume is highly recommended!

That's right. 14/15 December is the date most of the winter bivvis are happening.

Come along...

As it's now only a month away I've called the Plume and made a provisional reservation. I've booked a table for 8 of us at 19:30 on the Saturday.

I read back through the thread and I think there are 7 of use who have expressed an interest plus I know of a special vip guest who contacted me directly

I can increase or reduce the number as required and probably also change the time.... although it will be dark by 16:00 by then so unless we plan to ride around the moor in the dark or get delayed on the way I anticipate us being there early for hop based recovery drinks  I will start a list of names just before 2 weeks out and hopefully I can let the Plume know a final(ish) number with a couple of weeks notice.

Most excellent and much appreciated Sean.

Are you happy to provide the Bovey to Princetown route Dave?

I would have to make one up and I think you did mention that you had one...

Cheers, Si

Dave, if the route is sorted could you send it over please? Trying to decide on MTB, Gravel or 'other'. Planning to cycle from Exeter so appreciate anything will be a compromise.

Will do tomorrow as it is part of a bigger loop. It’s a lot of road but then a small section of type 2. I’ve ridden it on both mtb and pickenflick. Both were fine.

My participation has been approved :-bd
Most likely to be running in MTB singlespeed mode.
Thinking of pedalling in from the Haldon area

Sean - do you have a 'get home' plan? Will have space in the car if what a lift back
to the ferry?

Excellent, I think the last time I saw you was ssuk, I remember you passing the hip flask around on the start line at the race on the beach? Don't tell anyone but I have gears on the mtb for now so I'll be riding that

 I've put the ferry terminal in the etrex as a waypoint, does that count as a plan? That's a kind offer, I'll log it in case of emergencies. I've got the Monday off work so I've got 2 days to ride back.

Nordy can you txt me your email as I has forget it. Or just go here https://osmaps.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/rou ... -Princeton

I am afraid it is a bit roady which can't really be helped unless we get deeply immersed in some proper type 2.

On the Sunday I am going to take a longer route home via Plymouth. Basically following the old railway line down south and then NCN to Totnes and home.

Ok, it's 2 weeks this coming Saturday so hopefully those who've expressed an interest will be able to commit so I can make sure our dinner reservation is adequate? Perhaps add your names to the list below?

I'm sure we'll be able to change it on the day if necessary so this is just to check I'm in the right ballpark numbers wise. I'll get the ball rolling

Crap. Just spotted this thread and would love to join. Not sure whether i’d be able to bivi but Saturday up to dinner at Princetown will be fine.

Sean - don’t count me in for the meal just yet. I’ll have to negotiate with Mrs Ranger.

Sean - If you are going from Honiton to Bovey on Saturday morning you are more than likely passing within shouting distance of my house. Let me know if you’d like to ride in together- do you have a route in mind?
If you are going through hell, keep going.
