Camp lights.

What kind of light does everyone use for camp duties ? Head torch, lantern, bike light of some description, something else ?

I've a couple of head lights which are great but I do tend to blind everyone, so I've bought a mini led lantern for illumination ... I'll take a pic and let you know how it fairs.

I use an Alpkit Gamma, has a red/green/white Led plus main light so ideal for movement about camp and the smaller led are great to illuminate close stuff without blinding anyone else :D

I am thinking of getting a diffuser for my Exposure lights to confirm with each item must have 2 uses mantra

Petzl E-lite headtorch.

29g and plenty bright enough. One set of batteries lasts about 2 nights out, are quick and east to change and are very cheap to buy on Ebay. It's been used a lot for about a year and still seems in fine fettle, as with all Petzl lights the quality is great. Packsize is about size of matchbox.

+1 for the Alpkit gamma In fact, it just arrived today. Ordered it after my crappy millets on gave up the ghost after about three outings.

Will be giving it a try tonight as we're going to grab the the good weather by taking the kids for a biyv on the beach.

Also use my Airbike cycle lamp as a lantern by hanging it from the top of my tarp.

Just ordered a XM-L T6 led torch too which I was going to use as a head light for fast riding but I reckon that might be a bit insane for camp... we'll see.

I do have a Petzl e-lite which works well enough and is tiny ... I suppose what I was looking for was a little ambient lighting

Exposure light with a diffuser on is all you need, Good camp light.

I have one of those little lantern thingies Stuart has posted. I like it, and the battery last ages. Very small and light and cheap enough from either Blacks or Kathmandu a couple of years ago.

Pyros post up there ^^^ isn't as odd as it may seem. At weekend we had these.



They give off much more light than you'd expect, ideal for hanging under a tarp or around a guyline ... certainly enough light to cook by.



A set weighs 62g with batteries which I'm told should last around 30 hours (2 X AA). They're also very cheap, you can get 'em at http://www.lights4fun.co.uk

They came in very handy as stage lighting for Mr Stardusts guest appearance
