Re: Packed bike weighIn Thread
1.6kg actually
Yes, weighed with them full.
And no, it's not loads of gear, but the context is lightweight bikepacking set-ups rather than energetic teenagers with frame backpacks.
Those kids meed to learn a bit of TMS.

Take More Stuff .... which is my usual modus operandi because I do like my comforts. I was going to make an effort to TLS for the WRT, but as I'm tagging along with MaM and BDSteve and their youngsters, I suspect a wood stove and some marshmallows will sneak into my frame bag so we can toast them on a little fire.
I'm just going outside ...

Re: Packed bike weighIn Thread
Wow. You've managed to make a 2.8kg frame into such a light setup (packed and without)... seems like some money has been spent and many an hour of thought
Re: Packed bike weighIn Thread
I dont carry much and to be fair in this set up water and tools are in a hydration pack.
Heres the rough breakdown (since you seem mildly interested)
Nordest frame
Salsa cutthroat carbon fork
Raceface six c bars (old)
rf chester 50mm stem
rf ride seatpost
fabric saddle (the £35 quid one, not a fancy ti one)
XT cranks
Absolute black ring
xtr shifter
xt mech
sunrace 11-36 cassette
dt 350 hubs
stans arch rear rim (425g)
lightbicycle carbon front (405g)
dt spokes and brass nips
WTB ranger light / fast 29x3.0 front tyre
Mezcal tubeless 29x2.6 rear tyre.
DMR vault flat pedals
Nothing too fancy really
wildcat seat harness with
Lunar solo, alpkit 650 ti mug (contains stove, spork, windshield, lighter, sponge, night buff (used as a hat), alpkit down jacket.
Wildcat bar harness (doesnt quite fit but I've bodged it)
PHD diamir 1200 bag (12 years old, but still properly warm, may be overkill tomorrow)
alpkit cloudbase mat
sea to summit pillow
Boxers
dry socks
smartwool Tee shirt
revelate tangle M frame bag
Malt flask not for everyone I understand
Abus lock
2x firepot meals
2x GO energy bars
Chan lube
petzle tiny headtorch
5000mah battery and phone cable
Rucksack
Water, tools, phone.
Again, nothing fancy. arguably I could (and have in the past) done away with some of this but this will keep me comfy and happy
When I go to the Tuscany trail, I will take lighter sleeping kit, but no back pack.

"Absolutely amzingly interested"... I read it all, cover to cover. Without popcorn though. Hope it works well for yourself on the day(s) and the rest of the riders...

If it's any help, the lightest bike today was a shade over 30lb loaded and the heaviest was 95lb ... which probably puts most of us somewhere firmly in the middle.

Re: Packed bike weighIn Thread
Was it a gravel bike, Stu? My Ramin MTB weighs about 30lb without any luggage, I think.Bearbonesnorm wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2019 9:00 pm If it's any help, the lightest bike today was a shade over 30lb loaded and the heaviest was 95lb ... which probably puts most of us somewhere firmly in the middle.
This year the bike+kit was 1kg lighter than last year — and then I remembered I only put 2L of water in the Camelbak instead of 3L last year

Aye, Ti gravel bike, vomiting gnome forks and just enough kit.

Re: Packed bike weighIn Thread
30lbs = 13.61kg
95lbs = 43.1kg
Divide by 2.2046 to get lbs to kg

Re: Packed bike weighIn Thread
IIRC I weighed in at 47 pounds. Back home now, and taking stock, I reckon I can drop that to 35 easy. No chair, only a change of socks, can probably do without a book and three different light sources and dont get me started on that stupid big ass bum bag I lugged about, constantly drooping over my arse. Grrk.
I'm just going outside ...
Re: Packed bike weighIn Thread
My all-up bike weight at this year's WRT was just 1 LB heavier than my riding mate's was.
He very kindly pointed out though that the total weight of him and his loaded bike together was equal to my weight - that's my weight, just me without the bike and kit!!

We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

The prize should have been a 10kg weight that had to be carried around all weekend.

Re: Packed bike weighIn Thread
I’m really not carrying much.
The food and 1L water amount to almost half of what i’m Setting off with. The food will be gone by the end and the water wright will be variable obviously.
One area i could be lighter on is tools and spares. Including pump, tube, tools and a small assortment of nuts, chain links etc i’m carrying 1.1kg.
I haven’t got a weight for the unladen bike but it is 14.9kg with rigid forks/seatpost so probably at leat 16kg now.
This is as light as I am able/willing to be right now.
Enjoy your ride on Tuesday Shaf.
