Hunt axle removal

Post by rufus748 »

Trying and failing to remove my front and rear 12mm through axles and replace them with qr's
The hunt videos show the removal of qr's and replacing with 12mm but not the other way around. I 'assumed' it would be the the same.....
It appears the non drive side should undo and the axle push out along with the cassette body. My drive side has undone and I can't now remove the axle.
Any ideas?

I think they're the same type of novatec shell as superstar, in which case once you've unscrewed the 'cap' end it just takes a bit of a push to get it moving, particularly if you've not taken it out before.

Please don't smack it with a hammer on my advice though!

Go onto the Hunt web site and talk to someone on the LiveChat or give them a call, they'll be happy to help you. I'm not at work today and can't think off the top of my head which hub they have, there's a lot of combinations!

End caps removed. Appears mine are the V2 so don't just push out.

Hunt have sent me the right end caps, arrived this afternoon. They come with what appears to be an 5(ish) mm threaded alloy ring/spacer that takes a grub screw. No instructions and I can't find any on the internet either.

Working with on the theory they are generic Chinese hubs, does anybody know what the ring is for?

Are you on a desktop or mobile? Dunno about mobile but on desktop, go to your images via the menu and click on the image you want to link to. A dialog box opens, one of the options is "BBCode" click the "copy" button next to that then paste here. Should look something like [ img ]https://imgur.com/a/1PUdmWu.jpg[ /img ] but without the spaces.

That looks like a space you slight over the end cap axle, then do the grub screw up to make it clamp. Dunno if that helps!

Thanks, only thing is it's threaded and the end cap isn't.
