Bar end shifters and hydraulic brakes

Post by BreninBeener »

Looking at putting drop bars on a 29 hardtail as an option for longer days.

The bike runs 10sp wheels, so i was thinking bar end shifters....what arw the items of choice?

And...if i do this, what hydraulic brakea to fit?

Any recommendations?

My choice is Dia compe 'Power ratchet' friction shifters. I find them much more pleasant than indexed shifters.

Are they are reincarnation of the old Suntour power ratchet levers?

I use a stem mounted one for the drag drake on our tandem
Not so much a gravel grinder.... more a gravel (mud and tarmac) groveller...

My Arkose has TRP Hylex hydro brakes and bar end shifters, works great (though now needs some love after 10k miles)

Microshift 10s are good (esp when adjusted well with a bit of spray lube, can get a bit vague after a lot of use otherwise), SRAM TT500s also good. Hydros - TRP Hylex are really good.
