Cheap kit suggestions (bivvy bag and bike bags)

Post by matt_outandabout »

Hello

Looking for cheap ways of sorting some gear on the bike. So
  • Cheap frame 'corner' bags is one idea (lots on ebay, but hard to tell size).
How to get stuff on handlebars securely.
BIG but good seat packs (ebay again...?)
I also need a new bivvy bag, my old old old ex army one is goosed.

All else I am sorted on, being an owner of far too much outdoor gear already....

Cheers for helping...

How to get stuff on handlebars securely. - zippy's right, a drybag or even a cut-down rubble sack and 2 webbing pull-straps with lock-buckles? Pull them tight and they should be fairly secure but much depends on your bars and controls positions.

Also see here for a simple DIY seat bag on the cheap - http://www.alpkit.com/bikepacking/diy-saddlebag

I thought this looked pretty smart for holding stuff on the bars. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7031/6493 ... 407751.jpg

Or check out Ray Youngs solution on this website. He used a crud guard.

Not cheap though... Hunka and bicycle = half that price.
