Never seen a Lynx in the wild but years ago I saw a wild cat of some description over the Abergwesyn road and while out shooting around Llanddewi Brefi I saw a very large black 'cat' walking along a hedgeline. Safe to say I made a very cautious retreat.

I've heard there's a few cougars, and as you say, many other strange beasts!

The sad thing is that this lynx will more than likely be killed if/when found.

"I'm sure there are a few Boners who would be happy to meet some Cougars". There's a Viz cartoon there somewhere...

Escaped wild / oversized moggies seem to be in a few places these days thanks to idiots trying to keep them as pets or wildlife parks allowing them to escape. There is supposed to be a black panther round my way which I assumed was a local myth but I've met a few reliable-ish witnesses who have seen it - also an escapee from a 'wildlife park' which went bust and got shut down apparently.

The HT550 will certainly get a bit more interesting if Alladale ever get the go ahead for their wolves.

Good riposte by the zoo - "she would look like Garfield if she had eaten a sheep"
Personally I think we could spare a few wooly maggots for the sake of some big cats wandering around - make illicit bivvies far more interesting

If she had been eating sheep she would look like Garfield,” said zoo owner Dean Tweedy. “There are dogs, foxes and badgers around here. We don’t believe Lillith is to blame. The reports are nonsense.”
Do badgers kill sheep? I never knew that (if it's true).

Moreover, the idea of some rufty-tufty farmer being all shook up by the sight of a Lynx, seems, how can I put this, a little over the top

They'll kill lambs, not common though.

And they definitely break into hen coops and take hens.
We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.
