No. I've tried with multiple pedals too.

Anyone got any suggestions? I'm tearing my hair out here. :(

(and I don't have another bike to bring, it's this one or nothing)

You need a pedal tap Richard. Any LBS nearby that you're friendly with? It's a 2 minute job and should make everything good again.

Not really, no. There are a couple I could try, but I'm screwed for time.

Bit of a rant, but I'm so sick of my job. I never get any time which leads to always having to do sub standard at the last minute. :|

Which side is it? I don't have a LH tap but probably have a RH.

Drive side. So, right I guess?

Edit - It's the sort of thing I'd be happy to buy. But I wouldn't really know where you could find one at this sort of notice.

Why the hell would you make the bit you can't easily replace out of such soft metal?
You need helicoil - pronto :-bd

(or indeed a spare set of cranks - which is more likely something you can stumble across more easily).

I can bring helicoil kit - but I won't be arriving until relatively late on the saturday...

There's also half a chance (not entirely sure) that I've got actual pedal taps too, depending on how far gone the thread is.

Well, to be honest I'd rather start late than not at all!

I'm going to give it a clean / try the pedal from the other side / clean again and then give it one last go. Will report back...

Some tips:

Make sure you put some oil on the thread.

When trying the pedal from the correct side, turn it the wrong way first until you feel a slight click. Once you do, then start turning it the correct way.

Once you've got it to 'bite' go in half a turn, back it off, apply a bit more oil and go again.

Don't lose your patience ... think slow and easy. :-bd

I was doing that "click" thing, and you're right, it normally works, but in this case I think it's finding the broken thread rather than the proper one.

I just pulled out a decent amount of metal (aluminium?) and gave it a clean. Currently moving between putting my teleconference on mute and going back to the bike / working the pedal in / out.

It's in! \o/

Seems the key must have been getting rid of the metal from where it had got screwed up initially. Now I just need to prep everything else...

Cheers for the advice / offers of assistance. :-bd

Phew... I was actually getting tense then.

I've packed way too much. You'll see me at the start with the bike sagging. I can't seem to learn how to TLS.

Driving via Swindon to pick up my mate, the onto the Star for the night. Hopefully there for about 9pm. Leaving at 4pm.

Just got to concentrate on writing this report for the next 4.5 hours. :geek:

Cheers for the offer, but if they go wrong now I'm just planning on heading to the nearest off licence and then getting drunk in a field somewhere.

Glad we're not riding tonight; it's somewhat blustery here! Might leave packing until the morning.

Been like this since last night Craig. However, the promise of a 'summery' weekend is still on the cards.

Ha ha, cheers! I think I had just ultrasonically cleaned them!

Back on bb200 topic, I think I've packed everything, shifted enough of my cold to ride - but not enough to even bother trying to get a fast time. I've brought a bit of comfy bivvy kit with me, which I can pack last minute if I feel cr4p.
Right, early night, have an early start tomorrow!

If anyone riding happens to see this - I've been told that there is a large amount of diesel on the road from Staylittle to Pennant, so please take care on that section as (those going the right way) might be hitting it in the early hours.
