Thanks, it's the best bike I've ever owned. On paper it's a race bike and obviously not suited to bikepacking but it's so comfy and balanced I ride it everywhere...apart from CX races which I have no interest in!

Great colour James, should release that into production

One thing this thread shows (and owner of 3!), that Salsa make some of the best looking bikes :-bd

Here we go. First post on the forums and it is a picture of my bike. I think I'm going to like it here....

Image

Taken weekend before last. Ramin 3 + with various Alpkit bags strapped to it. PDW Brindle rear rack, Passenger fork cages. Planet x frame bag and a Topeak top tube bag. I bought the frame and the rest came form the garage parts bin! So an eclectic mix of XT, Deore, Avid, Superstar, Planet X, Charge and Ragley. Best thing about it is the beer carrying potential of the forks:

Here's my OO Fatty again with 650B+ wheels. Wildcat bar and seat harnesses, upside-down Ocelot on the top tube, and Alpkit framebag and stem cells. The water bottle sits there fine but Ive since moved to slotting a 2l bottle into the Ocelot with a Blue Desert drinking tube. Still not happy with that as it's impossible to keep track of how much water is left, so I'll be back to a hydration pack soon enough.

Bottle on the front of the seatpost perhaps?

Reckon my thunderous thighs would rub a bottle on the seat post. I think I might get a couple of jumbo hose clips and see if I can hang/strap a bottle under the down tube.

The Lurch in Aberystwyth at the start of a planned bikepack to Stoke-on-Trent via the Trans Cambrian and Jack Mytton Way but I only made it as far as Knighton as the conditions got the better of me and I caught the last train home with 10 mins to spare. Next time I think I'll be taking a packraft. I think some on here may have watched the Richard Parks Extreme Wales programme of him crossing Wales? If you did then that will give you an idea of the conditions that week as I passed him and John Lloyd in the Elan Valley going the opposite direction. When I got up to get off the train in Crewe water was still running down my legs and I left a big puddle where id been sitting. As I stood uncontrollably shivering waiting for the connection to Stoke I don't think I'd ever be as wet in my life without actually being submerged in a river.

Gratuitous pictures of dirt bikes? Oh go on then, it is Monday morning after all...

"Harrison", my 2017 Genesis Longitude - 27.5+ steel frame with rigid steel fork
V Trax Fatty 3.25" on the front, WTB Trail boss 3" on the back
ESI Extra Chunky grips
Nukeproof Electron flat pedals

Alpkit Stem Cell XL and Alpkit Brupot bag fashioned into a "stem cell" on the stem
Alpkit top tube bag

Competing with Lauf for gnome-vomit in many people's eyes, "Fudge," my 199? Rudge Bi-frame 26" folding mountain bike.

On-One Midge bars
Exotic 26" rigid carbon forks (the only 26" carbon disc fork I could find with a 1" steerer)
BB7 at the front, and now the back (not shown) courtesy my welding "skills"
Conti Mountain King 2.2s
USE polymer suspension seatpost
1950s Middlemores leather saddle

Same luggage setup, except
Bottle cages cable tied (fancy!)
MYOG fork cages with small drybags

As soon as I sat down on the train I regretted my decision not to carry on as I had been planning it for quite a while but it means I get to go back and try again :-bd

How does it ride? Often pondered the idea of building 650b+ wheelset for my Cooker Maxi. Lovely bike as well btw.
