Apart from the stupid maps, I've been getting on fine with IO6....

About to pull the trigger on entry.

Is there likely to be a pub near any potential bivvy spots?
What's the riding gonna be like? Bog fest or chance of some easy fire road action?

As with the WRT it'll be up to you to decide where you ride ... however, you should manage to stumble across a couple of pubs and bog trotting isn't compulsary ;)

Good, we need more entries ... otherwise it may not happen
I'll be entering at the end of the month when my meagre paycheck slithers into my bank account. I think that at least one other Devon rider will be coming along as well :-)

Finally stopped dithering and entered.
My plan is to make a weekend of it. I'm heading up from Croydon early on the Friday and plan on walking up Cadair Idris in the day and then going for a bit of dinner (pub, curry or something) and kipping somewhere near to the start (b&b, bunkhouse, whatever).
If anyone wants to meet up for dinner and/or a few beers or has some better suggestions (summit bivvy on the Friday for example) let me know.

Anyone recommend somewhere to eat/drink/stay?

Its a fair ol' way from Llanbrymair to Elan. I get 35 miles taking the most direct route, and i'm sure that'll extend once you add in a few diversions?

Hi guys!

First post on here, really like the sound of this and I think I've bullied, er, I mean persuaded a mate to Join me.

Now to go looking for some essential new kit......

First post for me too. I seem to have entered to do this in January.
I've never bivvied (but have been meaning to start), hate the cold, and I am far too old and should know better. So it should be fun.
Probably can cobble together most of the kit from touring stuff, but it looks like it will be a solo effort as enthusiasm from friends seems to be in short supply.

It's unlikely you'll be on your own for too long ... unless you want to be ;)

First post on here too, so hello everyone.
Recognise a few from STW
Likely to have a go if its not a washout.
Pint would be a good option for me after a day's riding.

got my very basic, but pretty light kit sorted now.

1 x alpkit hunka xl
1 x alpkit base 180 mat
1 x snugpak softie 3
1 x silk liner
1 x fleece liner
1 x tiny coleman stove
1 x ti mug

please point out the weak points, but i sleep/run pretty warm and will have dry spare sleeping clobber.

Tarp?
Blocks out the rain AND wind.
Pegs for the above.
