I saw a few people on a drop bars bike, how did you find it?

Good, but I do ride a road bike a lot. You do have to keep your eyes peeled for the smallest of obstacles as the tyres are so skinny. I was on the grey arkose. I did just over half of the YD300 on it which it wasn't too good for as it was very rocky and hardly any tarmac.

I got on well with mine, finishing in 16hr 51m. A lot of the course was really lovely. Could possibly have used a gear lower than 36:40 at times, but I'm not really complaining. On the grassy descents I even managed to keep up with Lee Craigee :-bd

Had touring bars on mine. Small amount of handlebar palsy in my right pinky today, but I think that was from too much taking weight on my hands and off my aching arse. Will use a more forgiving saddle/tyre combo next time I think. :-(

thanks guys.
my gravel bike isn't finished yet (waiting on dura ace di2 disc brake shifters) so had to take the mountain bike
was glad of the mountain bike going down the rocky river bed, but did miss the comfort of my road bike

still haven't decided on the bars for the build.
was just going to fit road bars.

just googled "touring bars"
OMG  do they look odd.
do you have a photo of how they look on a gravel bike /bike packing bike?
in the meantime I see further googling searching for bars

In Hafran Forest, it's the next to last descent before you get to the ford. Not really a river, it's a washed out steep fire road that has a stream running down it for about half its length. I think that's the one anyway.

Ah, yes. Good fun that.

I don't remember anything that was too much for the 40c tyres in terms of technical-ness to be fair.

About 50 metres before the ford there's a footbridge on the right. go over this and there's a decent track alongside the river to the ford. (I've been there in summer so knew  )

Only pic I got of my weekend set-up, up at the top of Pen Y Garreg Wen:

not a great view of the bars I'm afraid.

I'm a convert to touring bars for off-road - find them very comfortable. There's a bit of flex in them which takes the edge off a lot of the more chattery stuff.
