WTD - Hardtail MTB

Post by macinblack »

Hello,

My son is making ever louder noises about joining me on bike-packing trips and see what this lark is about. He'll have to use one of my bikes initially. Thereafter his interest may rapidly wane...

So, I'm after a reasonably priced medium hardtail for him to have as his own, as even if he doesn't take to ditch sleeping, he wants to get fitter.

Cheers Mac.

Thanks for those.
I'd rather source one from someone on here, if possible. It's more likely they have been looked after and have a stronger provenance, probably...

Genesis Longitude - price can vary on spec
Its a medium frame - I am 175 cm[ 5 ft 9 ] for me with space either way
In green
Wheel are set up tubeless
Deore 10 speed mech shifter and cassette
Upgrades
XT brakes instead of Deore
Manitou Magnum PRO 100 mm - capable of taking 29 + done no more than 200 miles since i bought them. Still have the original rigid fork which are included
New Alpkit love mud saddle and seatpost - BRAND NEW
Alpkit Stem [ New and unused]
Alpkit grips [ New and unused]
I also have some Confusious bars available for another £10
Its a lovely comfy bike for bikepaking and I replaced it with a Ti broken road which is pretty much the same
£300- £450 depending on what you want - most of that is down to whether you want the suspension forks or not

Thanks for the offer on the Marin but as it is for his birthday I'm spending a bit more.

I've got a 16" On One 4560b. black frame.

Its got superstar wheels, fox 32s and a deore 2x10 drivetrain, slx brakes. Can also include a specialized command post dropper which the frame has been drilled for.

Its got a few scuffs and marks, but nothing too bad. If you're interested I'll get some pics and a full spec list up later on.

I've recently considered selling my medium Ramin Plus (it's that or the Stooge and that was a present, so I'd look proper miserable if I sold that). Very clean and tidy, 'upgraded' with a 11/42 cassette, 30T ring and Goatlink. Different tyres, bars, shifter and now sports BB7 rather than the low-end Shimano discs. I've even just fitted new rear wheel bearings. I'd be hoping for as close to £700 as I could get though, so maybe over budget ... unless it's a big special birthday

I will be selling my medium custom Burls Ti as a full bike with a decent build for £600 as I need the room. Rigid Niner fork and lots of Hope goodness.

Thanks for the offers folks.

Mustang -Thanks but not quite what I'm after.
Stu - Thanks but just a tad too pricey.
Dave - Bugger, that's tempting, more money than I was thinking, but Ti...

I've got some thinking to do.

I'll contact those whose offers are within scope of what I'm after in the next day or so.

Thanks again.
