No worries at all.

If he happens to be Glossop / Nuneaton / Burnley, all places I go often, he can have it even cheaperer.

Ooh, my in laws are Nuneaton. That might be an interesting possibility

Would he be able to do configure something to use the magnetic strip similar to his awning?

Kador strip yep. It's attached.

You can get magnetic ones, where you need the two sided fig 8. And has long straps that throw over the van.

Or you can get an aluminium 1 sided 'female' ones that fit to the roof rail bolts. I had this, it was good.
