I’m surprised this hasn’t generated more replies as there’s a lot of love for the El Mar on here. I’ve got exactly the same as you’re selling here, and it’s just lovely.

I'm looking at it a dribbling a bit.

Is it 26 or 29 inch wheel?

(In reality, as I will very soon be living off savings, I can't splash money on a frame I technically don't need)

My 2012 is 29er so I'd say it's likely to be a 29". You really should buy it, can't call yourself a proper bikepacker unless you have a Salsa in the shed  The versatility of the dropouts means you can keep it for life and switch to suit. 135 QR, 142x12, single-speed, rohloff.

Defo a 29er

I sold my El Mar a couple of years ago, was a sad day. Wasn't getting ridden and was too similar to my Solaris except for the drop outs. It's a cracking bike. I rode is SS and with an alfine. Mine was a similar vintage I think

One day I'll have a singlespeed again

This is good news. I didn't realise I could make the rear 142 on mine.

Just need to buy the correct pair of alternator swing plates, it was the first thing I did to mine* I'm sure Keep Pedalling will be able to order them.

* Technically mines a Selma but it's the SS Ti El Mar in all bar name.

29" - I think you'll get up to 2.4" in the frame. Loads more space in the fork.

I've one. It's one of the few bikes I'll never get rid of.

Never had gears on it, but it was never intended as a geared bike!

I'm only selling it as it's slightly too small and I've just bought another bike that does everything this does slightly better - I don't ride MTBs enough to justify having two so similar... It's still a lovely frame and rides really nicely.

I wish this was a little larger. Always wanted one, ideally in orange too. Sadly I have enough slightly-too-small singlespeed bikes already

Quite tempted by this now. What’s the tyre clearance on frame and fork?

And can it take a triple chainset?

I think you'd get 2.4" in the back - I used it with 2.1". Fork is 3" or more.

Standard 73mm BB, no problem fitting a triple - though I only used it as SS or 1x. Has cable routing for front mech.
