Wtd - 9 spd shifter, crankset, 26" tyre and brakeset.

Post by richieblade »

I'm looking to build up a cheap bike for my girlfriend. I'm looking for the following cheap parts.

9 spd shimano shifter
104 bcd hollowtech crankset
A decent all-rounder 26 inch tyre
A disc brakeset, front and rear.

All of the above doesn't need to be cosmetically perfect, just functional is fine.

I'm located in sheffield

Many thanks

I'm in Sheffield too, and have various 26" tyres, and I'm pretty sure I have cranks and shifter too. Can't remember if I sold the 9 speed shifter a while back. What sort of tyre width do you need?

Sounds fantastic. A tyre, or pair of tyres, of around 2.25 would be perfect if you have any.

It would be great if you did have the cranks and shifter.

Whereabouts in Sheffield are you?

I'm in lodge moor, S10.

Can't find the shifter at the moment, but there are a couple of large boxes of bits I've not hunted in yet! Most of the tyre mountain seems to be smaller than that, or DH tyres. I do have a 2.35 kenda blue groove which is a nice front tyre though.

I'll find some cranks and look for the shifter once kids are in bed

Thankyou.

The kenda tyre sounds like it could work for what I'm after

Shifter is proving tricky to find. Cranks I've got are FSA mega-exo, which also work with a Shimano BB. Not got any rings on them though - do you need those?

Thankyou,. I don't need any rings, just the cranks themselves.

How much are you after for the cranks, tyre, and possibly the shifter?

Fiver for the cranks. Tyre might not be available,as the front one on the tandem started feeling odd yesterday so I may need it for that. Sorry.

Where are you in Sheffield, as I'm running a couple of errands around town tomorrow morning.

I've just found a pair of maxxis helter & skelter tyres. Sidewall says 1.95 but they're on the large size for that. Your welcome to give them a go if they're any use, and then pay a little bit for them if so?
