Wanted: panniers to borrow or hire

Post by quimarche »

I’ve just persuaded my partner to join me on the Hebridean Way, starting mid-May. Now I’m looking for luggage. Her e-bike has a very thick-framed rack (14mm), so my existing Karrimor’s don’t fit. Does anyone have a pair of panniers I can borrow or hire?

We've got some Ortlieb panniers. Not sure if they'd fit but you are welcome to borrow them.

14mm frame rack? That's the thickness of my thumb!

Is the rack there for the battery? If so, a lot of these are too thick for panniers, so the manufacturers often offer side attachments that allow panniers to fit. Might be worth asking the question for the place you got it from

No battery on the rack and I've fitted an Ortlieb QL3.1 (up to 14mm) on one side, so I'm pretty sure the QL2.1 mounts will fit. I think the Rixen & Kaul Vario Hooks will fit too - they go up to 16mm.
