Sorted thanks - one man tent - cheap please

Post by Borderer »

Hi, I am looking for a one-man tent/tarp tent for a young friend who is going backbacking soon. Under 2kg please and cheap as he doesn't have much money. Cheers.

Looks interesting Stu. Is it the one that weighs 1.3kg?
How much are you looking for and does it come with a pole? Cheers

I think 1.3kg is maximum weight so it could probably be reduced a bit. They're single skin but lots of venting and space so condensation isn't much of an issue. They come with the required poles and are dead easy to set up.

I was thinking £60.

That price seems pretty reasonable. Do you think he would be better off with the Vango or this Gelert I found? It's the successor to the solo apparently....

How long's he going for and also how big is he? - even I can't sit up in one of the Gelert coffins.

Perhaps also worth noting that the groundsheet of the Gelert is listed as having a HH of 1500 which rates as 'just' waterproof. However, if he's only going for a day or 2, doesn't mind contributing to landfill, isn't bothered about getting wet and is double jointed, then I have to say, the Gelert looks brilliant and a sure winner  :-bd

If for some reason that doesn't work, I'm thinking of selling a terra Nova zephyros 1
