My Welsh Ride Thing

Post by JohnClimber »

Last May I had to miss the official 2016 WRT due to a major bowel operation following an exploded appendix

But of course I blagged the tee shirt

Although I've not worn it as yet as I don't think I've deserved it.

So, on Saturday the 20th in the morning I'm going to set out on my delayed WRT with a route in mind and a goal where I want to bivi, returning back to my van on the Sunday 21st, so only 1 night out unless I can blag the Friday night away from the missus with the excuse that I don't want to wake her up as stupid o'clock on the Saturday (aren't I nice?)

Starting from deepest darkest Wales and out to the coast for a meal before a climb up to a perfect bivi spot.

If you're up for 48 miles a day with up to 7000ft of ups and downs, if you are at a loose end and fancy joining me then PM me for more info.

The forecast is in keeping with the original event :-bd

Descending off the top of Bwlch y groes into a hail storm is one of my more lasting memories of the weekend...

At least it will be warmer rain, they are saying gale forced winds, might mean a plan B bivi spot

Paging Stuart. Thanks for letting me leave my van at yours Mark's forster bivi ride is becoming one to remember.

When does type 2 fun change to type 3 fun?

3 seasons in one day and not one of them summer, hail hurts, seal skin socks are NOT waterproof, pedalling downhill into strong head winds is rubbish and my new Columbia waterproof was worth every penny.

Made it over the tops to the George Burrows for food before heading up to the Nant Rhys.

Sounds like you've made good time John and remember ... the line between type 2 and type 3 is merely in your head, so only you can decide where it lies.
May the bridges you burn light your way
