Winter Bivvy Cymru - details

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

When - Saturday Dec 12th, noonish.

Where - Llandrillo. Small free carpark @ SJ 035371 ... it's at the side of the river.

What - Excpect the usual. Nothing drastic with regard to mileage but it is quite hilly round there. This is a social ride - no one will get left behind and the pace will be steady rather than blistering. Come prepared for a night out and bring lights, if I can work a pub in, I will but don't bank on it. Everyone welcome.

Should be back to Llandrillo around dinner (lunch) time.

If you have any questions feel free, although I probably don't know the answers.

@Stu - nada from Mike...might have to bend his ear this weekend.

Looking at the map it seems there a nice bit of forest on the west side of the BB200 route running north into Llandrillo. Any idea what it's like through there? Might be good to ride in on.

I'd have thought it'd be okay, the forest roads coming off the B4391 are very obvious / look well maintained.

I've ridden the track from Llandrillo up to SJ 003331; it was fine.

Westwards into Penllyn Forest also yields some good riding, including the high level stone track that skirts the forest to the south at mostly 600m elevation.

Ta for that. Found us another barn for another UN refugee camp stylee effort? :) That was a proper score last year.

And ta for chiming in, Ian. I looked at the forest to the west and wondered if that was on the cards.

Is it worth pointing out that Llandrillo is the location of the only Michelin starred restaurant in North Wales? (although I think it's technically mid Wales).

I'd still rather have a banana milkshake and a Ginsters.
