Radnor Ring.

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

Has anyone ridden the Radnor Ring? From what I can tell it's 80-odd miles from Rhayader - Kington - Knighton - Rhayader. There seems to be off road alteratives for large sections of the route.

Anyone possibly up for giving it a go sometime? I'm thinking 2 days, 1 night at a pretty gentle pace.

Hadn't really thought about dates ... being a work shy lay about means it's possibly easier for me to work around others. It also means that weekdays are easier for me than weekends.

If we're looking at a weekend then it appears I'm stuck until the start of Sep. If weekdays appeal then I'm much easier. Has anyone got any dates in mind that they can or can't do?

If previous years are anything to go by then Sep might hold some decent weather.

Right then ... I'm still up for giving this a go, so if anyone fancies joining me feel free. At the moment it looks like Sep 3rd/4th or Sep 10th/11th are the likely dates.

If you want to come let me know which of those dates would suit best. Start/finish would be Rhayader on the Sat morning.

Not looking to set any records so pace will be steady ;)

Sep 10th/11th okay with you then Deb?

Pace will certainly be steady, afterall it's only 80 odd miles and there's 2 days to do it in.

40th birthdays are very overrated ... better off with us ;)

Anyone else fancy coming? So far there's Sallyh, Deb, Alex (I think) and myself.

EDIT: Chew now added to the list and Steve down as a possible ;)

I may have to bail on this one - my son has a pretty important rugby match that weekend and I don't to miss it if I can help it

Right then ... shall we say noon outside the Spar in Rhayader on Sat Sep 10th?

I'm reckoning that life will be much easier if there's no tents involved as a certain amount of stealth may be called for ;) . If we start to run late, we'll figure out a shortcut back to the start on sunday.

This is most certainly not a race so we'll be going at a steady pace to suit everyone. If anyone else wants to join in then feel free, no need to ask just turn up. Any questions shout up.

OK, after a month of DIY and next to no riding, I'm now good to come in this trip :D

Any more details on the route?
The Sustrans site is pants for getting any decent info off it...
