Long Mynd this coming weekend.

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

If anyone fancies a weekend around the Long Mynd* you're in luck ... here's the plan:

Meet at: Cemetery which is located at SO 449928 - minor road between Church Stretton and Little Stretton.

Time: Noon

When: Sat July 20th

Route: TBD

Everyone is welcome, no one will get left behind. There may be a cafe or pub along the way but don't bank on it, so pack as required.

Flatfishy, Ian and myself will be there so if you'd like to come along you'll be very welcome.

*Long Mynd was voted 'The Uk's best natural riding spot' by MBR magazine ... so it could well be poor show ;)

As the Summer Camp has been put on hold I would have been a definite for this, however I'm still injured so reluctantly I'll have to pass.

Thanks for the offer Stu, gutted
Wait for me...

Interested in joining you around 5pm on Saturday.

But still no PM back from Ian.

Does anyone know where you'll be around 5 to 6pm?

Are you eating at the pub instead of carrying food and cooking equipment?

Damn it, Routebuddy has just decided that they want another £40 off me for the pleasure of upgrading to version 4.2. Apparently it's a major upgrade, but as far as I'm concerned it only includes all the things that should've been in version 3

//sigh

In which case, we'll just take a ride around the Long Mynd and Stiperstones. Distance undetermined, but I know my way around enough so good trails are assured regardless of distance.

For anyone coming later in the day, how about we meet at Bridges Pub (SO 393964) at 6pm?
The food menu is a bit posh in the evening, but a bowl of chips shouldn't be out of the question and I'll probably take a mini stove and some noodles anyway.

To be as midge-free as possible, I suggest we bivvy at SO367986, which will only be a few miles up the road from the pub.

See you tomorrow at the pub at 6 to 6.30,

I might drive to the pub and ride from there, or if I'm early enough I'll park at Church Stretton and ride over to see you at the pub.

I need to be away by 10am on Sunday.

What's the most fun way down the NW side of Long Mynd?

Best way off NW side would be Medlicot or Stanbatch. Both gravelly and fast.

Stanbatch = 4 stitches in my right leg several years back = might miss this one on my own ;)

Cheers all, sorry I left early but with only a couple of hours sleep after my Thermorest Neo puncture I thought I'd leave with Mike where we split at the Long Mynd Trig Point.

Punctured air bed, now repaired

I got home at 9.30 and after a quick clean up I went to bed, getting up just before 1pm ;)
