You can get the train to Arnside easily enough from Leeds Tony. Either change train at Carnforth or get off and ride the last 9 miles. Doesn’t take long.

Are folk still thinking this'll go ahead as a group start? I'm thinking that the restrictions on overnights away from home won't be lifted by Easter?

Chris has pushed it back to the May Day BH weekend so it should be fine by then. Should.

I'll be there

British Cycling had issued their guidance today after long consultation with Sport England and in turn with Government lawyers.

Although bikepacking events are not mentioned (unsurprisingly) I think it is fair to assimilate the Dales Divide as a "sportive".  If so by 1st May, subject to some procedural guidance (yet to be issued, but likely to be similar to 2020 guidance, things such as no communal changing rooms, no spitting, etc) we would be ok to ride.  Of course DD is an "underground" event not sanctioned by British Cycling however to follow their rules and guidelines is very sensible.

It seems likely that by 1 May, the only cycling not allowed will be large group/peleton riding, that only allowed a couple of weeks later.  This is presumably a key activity for British Cycling.

So, the GPX I sent you both has been superseded - looks like up to 10% of the route has been tweaked. Chris sent it out by email on 5 April, with a batch of other info. Double check you have the right one gents.

Tony, Chris mentioned last year that people were complaining that the GPX wasn't right. Turns out they'd loaded it into Komoot, Komoot had helpfully "altered" it, they then used the altered version not the one that Chris sent out.

Bob, the route i have is the one sent out recently . it is on the email from Chris.

got to be honest tho, i have ridden most of the loop in sections over the years, so hopefully wont need to rely on it.

i have spent the last few weeks going over the route, and saving it to my brain.
the section just east of brimham to copgrove is new to me and a bit after dent for a few miles. i know the rest.

Eleanor (who works for Komoot) is riding, so you might get a 'live' nice komoot lady talking you round

It's not just Komoot, lots of the 'third party' routing apps/sites alter GPX's. I remember being in Hawkshead on Jenn Ride and there were 4 of us, all with different routes through the village. Mine was correct (GPX loaded straight into garmin device) and the others had dropped it into other bits of software before transferring.

Going to be chilly overnight - down to 0°C, "feels like" -2°C on saturday night/sunday morning. Only slightly warmer on the Sunday night.

Glad I checked the forecast before I started packing...
