Winter Event Substantial Meal (WESM) PHTO COMP (NOW VIRTUAL)

Post by redefined_cycles »

Here we go. More info on what the Winter Event is can be found in one of the threads. Competition is:

1) Ride at least 7 of your grid reference (GR) points (or 5 if thats all you've been given).

2) Cook it and have a proper meal at the highest GR, cooked up there off course and obviously leave no trace (if you're confused as to what's a substantial meal is then please PM Gordon or Oliver)... For the purposes of this article, 'scotch egg is not'

4) Take a few pics to report back and add a few blurbs of how it all went down if you wanted.

3) Don't post any nude pics or anything showing off your pint (of potentially intoxicating substance :-bd ).

...... Then win a jar of raw unfiltered mountain honey. In the interests of KISS (and to save voting for Biden over Trump... what a lovely choice) I'll follow a complicated algorithm in my head (oooohs and aaars and aaarghs in response to your post will be considered) and decide the winner.

Winner gets a jar of honey. Erm, I already said that... Size of jar TBC.

_________

Hope I didn't offend anyone :o

Just an update to this... after catching up via Al Jazeera and the world/local situation, I think it'd be better not to run this comp from my POV

All is not lost though. I'm making it planA 'virtual'.
So to win the jar of 'Poos' finest all you need to do is report how you had planned to win the competition. Keeping it virtual and in your head. Then we can somehow decide the winner :-bd obviously follow the rules above and as much virtual detail as poss... :-bd
PlanB is as Jon suggested:
this could be an idea for Saturday or Sunday this weekend.
Simply head to the highest GR or a high point near to your home, do your mealthan post up a picture on here

Thanks to Reg for doing most of the thinking for me...

This sounds like the sort of challenge I could rise to, literally as well as figuratively.

Tangent: I have some hillwalking friends of Glaswegian origin whose long-standing ambition was to deep fry a Mars bar on top of a Munro.

Deep fried Glaswegian Mars Bar would of course count as a proper meal

It's certainly got enough calories.

Damn, my first thought was to take an egg and some sausage meat, boil the egg, and then deep fry it

One course or two?

Is a pot noodle type meal classed as substantial?

Pudding will be semolina , if i can be bothered, probably not

Pot noodle... pretty certain Gordon Ramsay and Oliver would agree is very substantial. 2 course and you're hammering the point home. Look forward to some cooking at x-ft high :-bd

Thread updated. Made virtual, so the only way you could possibly win is if it was all hypotehtical and maybe how you'd planned to win. No actual photos needed but phtoshopped stuff appropriate for entry. Pot of honey awaits the winner (to be decided how to decide).

How wierd is that... fits right in to this here forum. Look forward to hearing your imaginary stories of how you cooked at a lovely high point :???:

After this evenings announcement this could be an idea for Saturday or Sunday this weekend.
Simply head to the highest GR or a high point near to your home, do your mealthan post up a picture on here

Shaf, you OK with this?

I think I might need to try harder... I did ride to one of my GRs, which also happened to be the highest GR and also the highest point on the Island, well just about, the bit just next to it inside the compound might be a couple of metres higher. Not much of a view today in the mist,

Image

Getting there did require riding up a road which boasts both a single and double chevron on the map and it's in volume 2 of 100 greatest climbs, it's #123 and 25%, it's all right but if I'd traveled here just to ride it I'd be disappointed.

We had brought a 'substantial meal' I'd did question if that counts but Ralph said it's all he eats and no one cooks cadburys buttons

Image

Shaf, you should disqualify him, not because he's cheating but because I can only image how hard it would be to get the honey out of his fur

Ok... aince it's Ralph and since he has his own tarp-tent stuff going on... and since it is a substantial meal for Ralph and it's veg-friendly (not in the rules but Ralph got brownie points for it) too, I'm gonna allow him entry :-bd

That's the first entry done :-bd
