Monday Night Peak Ride MKII

Post by FLV »

Back in another time, as long ago as 2013, a few of us used to do a regular night ride, generally I think we used to do a Monday. It was vaguely exciting, and cool, and quite possible a little Rad....

Well, prepare for new levels of excitement because its back. It will of course be better, because there's more genre's of bike to ride and talk bollox about.

Here's the detail in super simple bullet points for the hard of thinking (me)

- The First and Third Monday of the calendar months - I will endeavour to post it here.
- First Ride 15th June 2020
- Start point to be communicated by PM for those that want to come rather than tell the 'tinternet where our cars will be.
(Somwhere in the derwent / hope valley area is fairly central)
- Inappropriate bikes will be ridiculed, this is 100% inclusive and the same for everyone
- Slow riders will not be ridiculed (well, not for being slow at least)
- Distance will be from about 15km to Whatever the group decides at the start of the ride. About 1.5 hours.

- Start time, 7:30pm unless we think that half hour earlier can work, to be discussed on first ride.

- First ride, 7:30pm start. 15th June (yep, I said it twice)

There it is - be there, or be sad that you're not part of the coolest gang on the block...

Thanks!

I would like to try and make this.

In the mists of time there used to be a weekly "Peak Midweek" ride organised through one of the MTB website forums - I cannot even remember which now LOL ! I was reminiscing about that the other day as I rode some of the regular trails.

Cheers, Steve.

I think I'll sit out of this Dave as I rethinked it and regularly 'gas guzzling' to get down to central Peaks for a ride seems counter productive and would cancel out my commutes to work pretty quickly.

Enjoy :-bd

[only mentioning cos I registered my interest previously and since deleted that post... didn't want Dave gettin confused]

Depending on where it is in the peaks, then I might be interested. Could you send me the details for tonight please?

Well. That was ace... honest

Just myself and Mark left the cars hand headed off up the reservoirs planning to do one thing, cruising along having a nice chat we soon reached slippery stones where there were naked ladies. Really, there was... obviously we ignored them and carried on with the plan.

Then.. the standard 'lets have a look up here' happened and it soon turned into a standard BB ride

There was carrying uphill

Image

There was tussock stomping
There was carrying downhill
There were unmarked paths, covered in bracken
Then there were wet feet and a load more pushing
Some of it in the Dark without lights (its actually fine under starlight on easier tracks)

In the end, it was all kinds of fun.

Promise we do stick to a plan and do normal rides too

I'm fine with that Dave.

Can I suggest we vary the departure point week by week? It's a slog for me to get to and from the Hope/Derwent side of the Peaks whereas I can be at Hayfield/Roman Lakes side pretty easily. I realise the opposite is true for Mark and others of course.

Hi Andy,

That sounds ok to me. I work out in Bakewell, so can go from work if it is over the other side of the Peak.

Varied start points... easiser to get to... Tussocks and more squares that I probably wouldn't fetch otherwise. I'm in please Dave

Hi all.

The ride wasn't particularly well attended so ive given up.
However, if anyone fancies a ride any evening, you have my number and I'd likely be up for it.
