Now then..

Details below:
Meet Location: Bean Loved, Skipton. BD23 1DY
Date: 14/15 Dec (same as everyone else)
Meet Time: Noon for a 1pm depart
Parking: Various cheeky options across town, or its only 2mins ride from the train station

~50k ride to a pub somewhere in the Dales at a social pace
Shortish ride to the overnight location
The ‘plan’ is to have a roof over our heads, but as usual, come prepared for a night outside
~50k ride back to Skipton

Usual caveats around pushing/swearing/bogs....

Usual social occation, so everyones welcome :-bd

According to the calendar it’s the 14/15 of December this year.
Details to follow in due course, but initially thinking western Dales.
Usual drill of a social ride out to a pub for something to eat and then hopefully a roof over our heads if you’re lucky

Everyone welcome
Brilliant Chew, I hope I can make it along to this!

Chew, I might join you on this one (a Lancashire man to provide a bit of balance).... but if you’re going to a Bothy, that’s fine but I prefer sleeping out...

Will join if I can remember how to ride a bike (riding's been a bit thin on the ground of late). Hopefully there'll be more than two of us this year!

I checked out the proposed bivy spot today. It's a disused barn/shippen with a sizeable area of wood close by. The best bit is one of the shippens - the floor is dried muck but it's now basically earth so I'd bring a tarp or groundsheet just to keep things clean.

There's plenty of flat ground in the wood - it's a mature area of planted spruce, plenty of dry spots no matter which way the wind is blowing. If hammocks are your thing then it looks ideal.

I might try and join you guys for this one, just need to see how recovery goes after an op next week.

That is if a fat bloke on a fat bike won’t slow you down too much

We'll be heading north west.
With conditions being so changeable at the moment, its difficult to say what the route will be as some sections will be fantastic with a good freeze but boggy if it becomes mild again. A bit of road will be inevitable, but we wont be on the A65.
Plenty of local knowledge between us, to string something together :-bd

I'll be able to give a clearer indication on things next weekend, when theres a bit more certainty on the forecast.

Speaking of sheep, I have to sheepishly admit that I'm forsaking you lot this year and joining the Scottish lot, since they're doing a Borders edition which is actually less travelling for me. Sorry to miss it - if I could do both I would. Have a good one.

Had a bit of a cold last weekend, but I think I've cleared it - taking it easy at work this week. I should sort my bike out this evening and pack tomorrow. I've eyed up somewhere to park in Skipton.
So I'm still on :-bd Social riding will be ace

So long as I'm not doing a Bambi impression straight out of the door it should be fine :-bd

Chris - I can point you at a couple of parking spots in town that will be fine for the weekend.

Hiya all

I intend coming, but need to be back home Sunday before tea time...

Been riding the fat bike and will probably be riding that.... the big beast... and I’m putting a bike lock in the bag, and my Montane jacket in case it’s anywhere near to freezing...

Anyway I hope I can keep up with this ‘social pace’..... I’ll be pedalling enough weight.

Bob, I was sussing out parking somewhere near Primrose Hill.... any good ?

I was out Tuesday in bad weather, in the dark, and at one point the rain was so hard it was coming down in bucket fulls ! Felt like there were 20 people in the trees hurling a bucketfuls over me...

And 2 minutes from home my Exposure Joystick went dead.
Wouldn’t come on at all, but at home later it came on and wouldn’t go off...

Till eventually it dried out and acted normally.

Never done that before.
I have my Petzl head torch just in case.

We'll be back before it gets dark on sunday.

Exposure are really good on servicing, so i'd give them a ring.
They fixed my Maxx-D for free when it went into a funny mode.

Conditions are changing and it'll be a mixed group, so we'll pick something that suits everyone.

Think i have an OS OL2 knocking about, but if someone could bring one that would be super :-bd

Bit of an emergency at home so won’t be able to make it

Boilers packed up, so need to wait around for someone to take a look at it.

If anyone needs any details let me know and I’ll try and sort something out

I’ve made it to the start! :-bd
It’s a bit wet/haily outside!
Cafe is a bit rammed, but have managed to claim a ‘large’ table.

Looking forward to it. :-bd

If anyone is thinking of joining us then we’re in the Listers in Malham before heading to the bivy spot
