He let you have a go? Honoured you were!

Anyroad, are you coming down or what? Just get it sorted. Although, I don't think we're allowed to have too many of us in one place at the same time in case an asteroid hits and we're all wiped out, decimating forum numbers in the process.

For anyone who's time-poor, I've come up with an alternative route. 0.26km, 0m climbing.

When I mentioned going round in circles at one point, here's the bit I meant below. A surprising number of byways etc in one small area, joined up at various locations, with some fab views. I ride there occasionally and a while ago I thought it would be fun to work out a way of doing all the tracks in the same ride but each one only once - you know, like the puzzle book things. I can't find it at the moment, so if you have a spare moment see if you can come up with a route. I allowed myself to use adjacent bits of road to help the linking but those bits can only be used once as well. I also allowed that cheeky path next to the duck, although my friend Esther who manages the duck says that's naughty. Ah well, beats watching the telly.

The "trick" with those puzzles is to count how many paths enter/leave each node or junction point. If more than two nodes have an odd number of paths connecting to them then it's not possible to traverse the network without repeating a path.

Good point, should've remembered that. Well patently the game isn't going to work in this case then. I must have done it in the pub or something. Still, we can tie ourselves up in knots trying when we get there  .

Nope nope nope nope nope nope ..............

My abiding recollection of one of the winter bivvy routes Reg led us on was a figure 8 around Ashridge taking in some of the more deeply mudded patches on the Ridgeway and surrounds. It was a merry frolic, and I didn't realise it until we pass through the same bridlepath intersection the 4th time. In my defence, it was very dark, very cold and raining, so I was all a bit heads down mumble grumble with a malfunctioning WTFuckometer,

Nah, those bridleways all look the same in the dark Tim.

You are in a maze of twisty little bridleways all alike...............................

Sadly looking like I’m out, Mrs D has booked a weekend away in York in my absence. Can’t really complain, WRT followed by 10 days tramping around Spain, bound to cost me. Alls not lost yet I just need to hide the children somewhere.

Oh poop. As well as looking forward to your company I was gonna bring that seat bag. Will get it in the post this weekend. Thus, we are three, I think: Reg, Pickers and me.

Well we could get up a bit later in the morning, resulting in three lie-ins too  .

Sam's also bailed then has he? Ah well, I never complain about a nice cosy threesome.

Maybe some last-minute contestants will sneak out of the woodwork.

'stash a child' - seatpack? Anyroad, brill if you're in.

I really have to draw attention to my lie-ins pun. Pretty good in the time allowed I thought  .

Silverstone - I've erased that memory, it was too traumatic. I'm still having therapy a year later.

That was quite clever. I missed it, me, but seem to have a 'roo loose in the top paddock today.

This is well exciting. It's like Christmas Eve (without the elderly relative pissed on a few sherries).

Even more exciting news! I’ve opened negotiations with the grandparents of my number one son, they seem to be responsive to the plan of looking after him while I drink beer and arse about on a bicycle :-bd
