Not looking likely this weekend, I'll keep you posted on the 2 after that, I'll so if Ben (my mate from Watford) if up for a bit of falling over water and wood burning stove-off!

Can only apologise unreservedly for being hopeless with these Tim. Was chatting with MuddyPete about it last night. He's on a short rein at the moment, and mine's a bit longer but still not as long as I'd like. Would you be able to manage a midweek one around Tring sometime? M-P could easily leap on a train straight to work then. Lots of spots round Tring and it's sort of half way between us (and next door to R3, Nick up the road, etc). Sorry to hijack yer thread chap.

No drama Reg old cockerel. As a working stiff and one who functions largely as a sole parent, mid week shenanigans are a no go. Unless of course it's a Tuesday night and we can bivvy close to central Slough ........ no?

Sadly I’m spoken for/to that weekend, same as your excellent sounding shed thing. Honestly it’s not you :-bd

Right, so none of the irregulars can make it. Anyone else? Only two weeks away.

I am going to give this whole TLS concept a go. No chairs. One small cup and stove. No spare clothes. No spare booze. Only one way of staring a fire*.

All that will mean I will be miserable and probably moan endlessly, making me less than fun company.

Who's in then?

* Normally I've got a lighter, a fire steel and matches. Some time back, I made a bow drill because it was fun to make and fun to use. It never worked, but it gave me something to do.

"No chairs". Are you absolutely sure about this Tim? I mean, you don't have to mate. You could be opening yourself up to all sorts of PTSDs, flashback nightmares, etc etc....

My planets seem to be aligning with yours, Tim :-bd .
Mind if I join you?
A start point within cycling distance of a station on the Watford-Milton Keynes line will be appreciated.

Will there be opportunities for "retrotasticness"?

Pete, that'd be super. Been way too long - a year come to think of it. I'm happy to come up your way and could do with getting out of my locale. Name the station and time and I'll meet you there. And if you can come up with a sub-20 mile route to a pub near the perfect bivvi spot, that would be even better.

Retrotasticness is a goer. Think I might cram this puppy into my frame bag. A 1950s picnic stove that has never been used in anger. Plus a very quaint little kettle circa 1945. And a 1920s meths bottle. Oh, we're gonna be soooooo retrotastic. :ugeek: :ugeek: :ugeek:

Reg - I found out today the sprog has a local party that night :-bd

TBD - Leighton Buzzard railway station is ideal for me: plenty of pubs and trails nearby. Depends if you want a "bivi trip with a drink", or a "drinking trip with a bivi"....
Ollie Vee's (Leighton Buzzard's premier Hawaiian bar and nite spot, complete with life-size rubber shark head and enough bamboo to keep Reg in undercrackers for several lifetimes   ) is usually lively and good for a giggle....Hmmm....we could make this a RetroHawaiianTastic event...

Ah right, ta, well have a good craic. Hopefully if you give Tim a nice time he'll come back later in the year when I have my rear in gear.

Leighton Buzzard railway station
Sounds like a plan. What time's good? Early afternoon maybe? Probably prefer a bivvi with a beer rather than the other way round.

How about...15:00 hours at Leighton Buzzard railway station taxi rank.
We can fine-tune it to earlier or later next week, depending on home plans and how gopping/tropical the weather.
Pub/restaurant meal or cook-it-yourself?
