Didn't know whether to post this in Cheery Friday, MYOG or Landslide's midge net thread....

I had the sewing machine out for a little job last night. Whilst it was out and as I'm off to Scotland and Ralph is coming...

If I'd thought on I'd have sent Ralph some carbon for his tarp pole.

When I showed Jane she just rolled her eyes. Then she said it looked a bit tight on his ears, took it off and confiscated him.

There may be no hope for either of us

Confiscated? Kidnapped more like. What's the ransom demand?

Now got 15 flower heads on my two sunflowers, with more to come. How on earth do you stop them? They've gone rogue.

Finally dried and packed WRT bivvy gear away in the loft so that keeps Mrs P happy (relatively).

Still cheery after reading Trep's WRT report. As far as I'm concerned all's right with the world when someone can get up at 4am for days on end and survive only on fizzy fish sweets.

I think he'll be in mine in the Trossachs but he should use his own if he wants an ITT completion under the No Gear Sharing rule. He has asked how small the virtual WRT T shirts go, I forgot he did that  He's out of luck if he thinks I'm making him one!

Two, one hour, virtual white board software design tests this afternoon. They've already got back to me, through to the next stage, a three hour pair programming task. Not sure if that's cheery or not... 😢

I rescued this from a barrel of water this morning. No idea how long it's sat there for but she's a big un and a good un. I'll get her shipshape and I'm sure we'll have many skinned knuckles together in the future :-bd

Bit of diesel and old engine oil mix on the threads
And hammerite on the body and she’ll be as good as new
For my own cheery Friday just received a email to say the broken road I ordered back in July has been shipped , only issue is I’m working all weekend so will have to knob off early on Sunday to give it a ragging

I love a good vice....my lad bought me a smaller one from a car boot for 4 whole
English pounds that's now on the workbench, the tightening handle still isn't moving
Much but it's work in progress ( it tightens just won't slide).......it also has a little anvil
On the back, very handy :-bd

Just been out on me bike. Utility trip. Nothing fancy. Simple as that. Cheery Friday in a nutshell (no, not nutcase thank you).

Post number 4321 is quite cheery too in a low-key sort of way. Thunderbirds Are Go! (*)

Reg's Reward: a cheeky early beer and a few crisps methinks.

(*) almost

I'll be busy tomorrow so I'm starting early.

Feel free to ignore this bit, there's a short version at the bottom so skip straight to that if you like {some time ago I was given a Yew log by a chap I know. At the time I promised that I'd make the first bow from it as a gift for him. I got the log home and left it in a dark corner of the barn for a few of years. In that time, said chap retired from shooting due to ill health and I suspect general old age. He sold all his kit and I'll admit that watching folk circle round his stuff like vultures wasn't pleasant. Now, some time later he had a change of heart and decided to pick up a bow once again. Sadly, with no kit left and not much money, he was forced to buy a cheap glass recurve thing (it does the job but is soulless). Anyway, word of this change of heart reached me and so I inquired as to whether he'd still like a Yew bow? He selected the correct answer and I started work.

This particular lump of wood had few of the attributes one would generally look for when selecting a Yew stave but that's never stopped me so I pressed on. Now, some bows almost make themselves, others will fight you a little along the way, whereas this one was just a b'stard but this afternoon it loosed its first arrows. It's now sat basking beneath its first coat of oil and with some luck I'll give it to its new owner next week}

I finished a difficult bow.
