After a shitty week of crap weather I wasted a whole weeks leave....But now it's looking promising and iv just completed a route I'm going to try to get done that takes me to the remotest parts of the south west on England if that's at all possible :) bikes all packed and I'm ready to rock out on Monday morning. Just gotta hope the ingrowing hair on my ass sorts itself in time....ooohhh

My gear cable snapped. Utilised the workshop at halfords to fit new one :-bd

(Amazing how their bikehut workshop is less well equipped than my personal toolset  )

Off-Road? Be interested to hear about what you find in Cider & Ice-Cream Country.

Is it cheating to use spray on plaster?
It sets like varnish until the whole scab drops off.

You wouldn't know it's cheery Friday from looking at these fellas but I'm cheery because the Fly Catcher chicks living near the door to my workshop have doubled in size this week and all appear to be doing well ... hardly surprising with all the flying, crawling and biting things that also live here :-bd

I was going to be miserable, because I'm still unwell...

...but that's fantastic. I love it. :-bd

Stuck in a boiling hot office with serious tech issues so should be miserable...

...but since that tech issue is our e-mail's gone down, no-one's pestering me for work, I've got a fairly unlimited supply of tea, and I'm all packed up to naff off towards Bala for a weekend of kayaking, hill running and hopefully a gentle spin at Coed y Brenin. Worse things happen at sea...

Love the flycatchers Stu - do they return every year to the same nest site?

See you there Pyro - will be at Bala too this weekend with friends and kids - birthday BBQs, kayaks and swimming as well as a run maybe.... out of here shortly to go and pack in a hurry (as per normal!). Have a good weekend everyone.

No, first year they've used this spot. It's usually the reserve of the Redstarts. There's some Blue tits in the flat below too.

Ah, if I'd have spotted this before the weekend I'd have given you a shout! I had a cracking time, 3 laps down the Tryweryn with a couple of old friend, a solo run up Arenig Fawr in the evening, and a steady spin out with a couple of mates at Coed y Brenin in the Sunday.

It was beautiful up the hill on Saturday evening:

Went to the local airstrip and not only did I have the most amazing breakfast in a very long time, three Apache helicopters flew in in formation. Instead of landing, they spun around and flew the whole length of the runway backwards before going home for their dinner*

This bit of serendipity from the One Bike thread made me chuckle at the end of a fairly grim week

Great Friday at work, we introduced a new regime, funkit Friday. Funk, soul and Motown all day with bacon rolls for lunch :-bd got home to find my wife had cooked a stupendous roast :-bd , went bike packing :-bd . Still on a high from new job so I'd have enjoyed Friday even if I fell in a cesspit :-bd

Spent a couple of minutes sat a few feet from a Merlin today, looked like she'd caught her dinner and wasn't letting it go just because I was there. 'Twas lovely.

Good luck to all those making their way up to the Dales this weekend ... hopefully the weather will be kind.

Me? I'm home alone until Tue. Dee's gone to Kent this morning, I cut a new ash bow stave last night so I have that to play with and the dogs have decided it's fried Spam butties for tea ... cheery Friday indeed :-bd
