I collected the cylinder heads (new valve seats) for Death Trap yesterday which means my self imposed deadline of completing it for my birthday is still on the cards - even better, Dee offered to pay for them as a birthday present

Got asked if I fancied another 5 month's work! Basically sorting out all the gaps in the walls to the top of this field (you can see them via the dips in the wall's shadow) and the entire wall at bottom right.

In truth the walls around there are all at least 200 years old and pretty well all of them could do with being rebuilt - they look a bit "tired"!

First works bender for ages last night although only 5 turned up.

Mine too. A great afternoon/night out but out of the eight of us out, on the third day four of us tested positive for covid. Not so good, then.

My symptoms have been pretty light - so that’s cheery - but pretty un-cheery because I was all set for a two night BaM starting tonight that can’t now happen. Lost my money for train tickets too. And to add insult to injury, the weather forecast is for three sunny days.

I’m feeling pretty hard-done-to today, as you can imagine.

I have nearly finished our kitchen. So that's cheery.
Plus been to the park and the pub with the dogs, so that's even cheerier.
Now sat watching a film drinking Skye Tslisker and Cardhu gold reserve. Quite happy now

Very cheery. Its sunny and I'm off to spend the weekend biking around the cairngorms. Hopefully bag some spring snow on the fatbike as well as a couple of bivvies

While sorting out van insurance (if I had any hair I'd have torn it all out ) a stoat went past the garden gate then came into the garden for an investigation.





I've seen stoats at the top of the lane before but none down round by the houses.

Saturday, but still. Week off work, cottage in the Elan Valley. Mixture of friends and family popping in, eating and drinking too much, walking a bit, probably not biking as I'll have the dogs with me, and hopefully some alone time too. Marvellous.

‘S not Friday , but just had a lovely afternoon in my late mums’ house, with all the family, before completion of the sale on 31st. It re-enforced the feeling that I really love my (small) family. Feeling a little sad. If only the world would stop spinning (too many gins, maybe).

Tackling some jobs I've put off for a while today, which is not particularly cheery, but will be cheery if I get them done.

Already fixed the leaking boiler (again, though the same problem, so arguably I didn't really fix it properly the first time): £3 parts, half an hour, should have done it months ago Kept telling myself not to start taking the boiler apart in the middle of winter... ended up doing on one of the few snowy days

Oiling kitchen worktops now.

Not sure I can bring myself to go outside and change the oil on the car, another couple of weeks won't kill it.

Project Death trap is drawing to an end. It's been an emotional journey with both highs and lows but this weekend should hopefully see her run for the first time in over 40 years. When I began, I was going to keep a record of expenditure but that idea went out of the window quite quickly. However, I would estimate that there's probably something like 500 hours tied up in it ... but hey, it's better than watching telly.

Stu, is your workshop heated? Or do you just MTFU? Don't mind shortish stints but when it's cold I struggle for any length of time without putting on a heater
