Yes, she looks a real beauty. She's going to love it at Ceulan :-bd
We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

Right it's Friday tomorrow, so I'll get my pissed-offness out of the way now in an attempt to start cheerily tomorrow. No it's not about tiers at bedtime. Don't even want to go there. No, I went down the garden for something or other - check on the fairies probably - and thought I'd inspect my ten pots of oak seedlings. Potted them a few weeks ago, soil covering them up. Eh, what's going on here? Each pot has an exact acorn-shaped indentation where each acorn has been surgically removed. It's that bloody squirrel isn't it! To say I'm livid is an understatement. Incandescent is about right. My own fault of course for not putting some perspex over them. It'll be the same sow that raids our birdfeeders for sunflower seeds I'm sure. I can usually catch her in the act there but the acorns are at the bottom of the garden so no chance.

Friday had better be cheery.

What colour is this squirrel?

If it's grey then you can exterminate it guilt free :-bd

If it's a red (a long way from home) you'd better head out and get some more nuts for the poor thing. The reds at my mum's are partial to a walnut, I say partial but don't know if they actually like them as the normally take them from the bird table and bury them in the plant pots

Yep. I need to install a remote-controlled infra-red SuperSoaker.

I assume to see the squirrels :???: I've got a picture of one I took the other week, I'll put it up tomorrow when I'm at work and it's actually Friday.

News Flash: Spoke to my sister in Llandeilo just now and she says she's going to post me a load of them - acorns from her trees that is, not squirrels. Don't tell anyone because I'm sure we're infringing some biohazard regulations along the line somewhere here.... Shh...

PS> "tiers at bedtime". No?

That'd be lovely thanks Stu  . In the meantime I'll think up some fiendish anti-squirrel defences so I don't waste them. I reckon some little "derw" labels will baffle her.

As promised, apologies for the poor quality photos, taken on a phone through the kitchen window

The one in the top picture is tiny, when I first saw him/her a few weeks before that picture, poking out between two plant pots, I thought it was a red mouse until it came out and I could see the tail. And I recall from my bivi with Landslide that these amuse you as well?

The post has only recently fell over although I've not made the effort to use the gate.

Whilst we're being cheery, is it childish when coming up behind a moped at the traffic lights on the ride to work to draft behind it when the lights change and ride across town pretending to be in the Keiron?

Not a bad office :-bd

Just finished rebuilding the far wall. Looking at maps the original was at least 170 years old so it's done OK. I've memories of my dad repairing bits of the nearer wall and me, as a toddler, helping him with the small stones used for the heart/filling.

All the "lumps" in the grass in the foreground are old stone built land drains, probably of similar vintage to the walls. Now that must have been a lot of work as you need to dig a trench at least 600mm wide and deep before even starting to construct the drain. The surrounding ground has both dried up and therefore shrunk plus some soil will have washed down the drains over the years so rather than being below plough depth the drains are proud of the general level of the field.

Gorgeous :-bd "A house isn't a home without one" and all that

Keep up with the pictures Stu, it's been a while since I had a pup in the house so keen to live vicariously (although I'll pass on the night-time puppy whimpering / pining (poor tykes) and training accidents

Not quite such a cheery Friday as I wait for a plumber to come and sort a boiler leak that was discovered this morning.

Oh the hilarious irony that after cleaning up, fiddling, probably wrecking it and making the leak worse in the process, that Amazon sent me this notification for the vac I ordered.

The WET and dry vac

You'd cry if it wasn't so bloody silly

Aye that was mum and dad. She'll be a big girl but soft as a brush. She has her last injection on Monday, so I'll go and collect her next weekend and the fun can begin.
