New Bothy in Welshest Wales

Post by Taylor »

I can't remember where I read it(probably on the MBA site) but I can't find it now, but I read about a new bothy being acquired soon.
No further details I could find on the t'interweb.

Anybody know where it's going to be?

Edit: it's in the news letter and it's going to be in mid Wales.

Any idea where in mid Wales?

There was talk many moons ago about something near Nant Y Moch. I know where the building is, it's not the easiest to get to but the location is superb ... if it's the same place that is.

If it's the building at N-y-M, I think I know which one it is.

It's on the opposite shore to the main track that comes from this end.

If it's this one, the MBA have done a fair bit of land work around it!

Having read a few MBA reports I'd be sceptical that they'd take on that level of work, certainly a hardstanding around a bothy is usually surplus to requirements ;) Maybe the landowner is doing it for them on their behalf? Or maybe it's the wrong building?

Only ever used Dulyn in Wales so not so familiar with the local ones.

And BTW, why are you taking spyshots

I've no idea if its the right building or not but as the MBA news letter says they've made excellent progress in discussions and work will be started shortly afterwards.
Although that wouldn't tie in with the dates on the pictures above.

I seem to remember this building being talked about as a bothy a couple of years ago though.

Pictures are from the web, not me spying. ;)

Does it remind you of this though?

That's certainly the same building the MBA were asking about a few years ago ... I recall they were having trouble tracking down the owner.

I can think of a few more that would make ideal bothies.

Just had the new news letter/booklet in the post today.
I'm doubting if it's the building were speculating on above.
They reckon it's just gone for planning permission and work isn't likely to start until the latter part of this year or more likely, early 2013.

Keep your eyes peeled folks.

Did you really find it, or just read something about where it actually is?
