Most bikes ever owned at one time?

Post by Ray Young »

As it say's, what's the most bikes that you have ever owned at one time and what were they? You can't count the wifes/partners/kids bikes, they must have been for your own personnal use.

I'll start with six. Dave Yates Mtb (my all time favourite bike), Pace something or other Mtb ( square tube frame) which I bought purely for racing on but never got on with and sold fairly quickly, Dawes Double Edge Mtb tandem (it was useless off road untill I fitted suspension forks then it became a real hoot), Raleigh Dynatech road bike, Cannondale Mtb and an MS Racing Mtb (bet no ones ever heard of them but it was my first proper mtb and it had a superb cro mo frame, used for many years after mtb'ing use as a commuter and tourer).

I briefly got up to 3 -

853 Inbred (rigid)
Kona Dawg (play bike)
Tifosi CK3 (road bike)

I've since decided life is too short for road biking so the Tifosi has been broken up and I am back to 2

There's a 'one in, one out' policy on the shed :) and I'm at the limit of 4 complete bikes: On One Inbred 29er, Cotic Roadrat fixed CX, Airborne Zeppelin road bike and a steel fixed wheel for audax and commuting. For a while last year I also had 3 framesets (Boreas Aqua road, Giant OCR and a second Roadrat) as well.

I'm too ashamed to join in but I'd like to say, you're all just playing at it ;)

I've got 5 at present:

Boardman Team FS mtb
Giant XTC 3.5 hardtail (soon to be SS)
Specialized Allez Elite (winter road bike)
Planet X Nanolight (full carbon summer road bike)
Specialized Sirrus (hybrid with rack)

The allez probably sees more miles than anything else as I live in a pretty built up area and an hour on the road bike after work is the easiest way to keep in some sort of shape.

Stopped counting at 13 Ray, that was just before Christmas ... I've since had a cull and am down to 6 now. It'll be a long road to full recovery but I think I'm over the worst ;)

i usually have a max of 3 on the go at any one time (mtb, ss-mtb and road) but currently have 4 (listed below) and for 3 days a couple of weeks ago i had 5 (after buying one before selling another)!!!

right now i have:

1. Cotic 'Soul' (front-sus, 1x9)
2. Surly 'Karate Monkey' (front-sus, 29er, fully-geared)
3. On-one 'Inbred' (rigid, SS, 69er)
4. Planet X 'Kaffenbak' (heavy-road/light-touring bike)

must admit i've never been happier with my 'stable' than right now (am going riding tomorrow and can't decide which bike to take - what a great problem!).

Wow, I should show this to my Ex as she seemed to think that 2 bikes was excessive!
At the moment I have :

Surly Pugsley (29er wheels on it atm for bikepacking and everything other than trail riding)
Stanton Slackline ( 853 steel hardtail)
Kona Major Jake CX bike
Trek 69er singlespeed (lovely Copper finish and super fast on the trails)
Trek Fluid 95 full sus
Azonic Steelhead jump bike (A bit bent and knackered after 2 seasons guiding in France, but built like a tank)
Carlton (cant see model as its too rusty) Singlespeed hack

I love to have a choice of what to ride, but the Pugsley with 29ers is the one I ride mostly.
The big wheels just seem to squash everything into submission.
Glad to see I haven't got the most, although I could justify another 5, at least, if I had the money.

9 at one point a couple of years ago. Down to 6 (complete) bikes at the moment, which I would call acceptable to the management: 2 MTBs, 3 road bikes and 1 not-well-used track bike.

The key is frame colour. They only spot the chages by the green one becoming titanium silver...
