Yesterday, when I went to dump some stuff at our local "amenity site" this
was leaning against a lamp post just outside. With a label stuck on
At our skips site, as is probably at all skips, once anything is inside it can't be rescued, so whoever it was had left it where it could be.
A Giant Escape 1.5. The first year for this model was 2010, so max 6 years old. It's missing its seat and post and the tyres are perished - everything else seems OK. It changes gear sweetly and the brakes work fine. I couldn't leave it there at that price (free). It's got carbon/ aluminium forks and feels very light. A new post and seat clamp are on their way £17.48 from Chain Reaction and a pair of Schwalbe Landcruiser tyres and tubes from Ebay, £22.99. The seat will come from the parts cupboard. So for just over £40 I have a nice runabout bike, although now I think about it, I wonder how much I'd have paid for the same bike complete.
Look what I found at the skip.
