TCW Dover Junction Bivy
Is there a shelter at Dovey Junction train station or somewhere nearby suitable for a doss?
I am planning a West to East TCW this weekend and my train gets into Dovey Junction well late at night. Was hoping to kip down nearby and also travel as light as possible.

If I remember correctly, there's a waiting area which is covered as you have to hang around waiting for a connection to Barmouth if travelling from Aber. Bit of trivia, Dovey Jcn is the only station on British rail that you can't drive to, at least it used to be.

OK I don't mind playing the fully-paid-up-train-nerd card ;-). Berney Arms in Norfolk. And of course if you get stuck there you can drown your sorrows in the boozer which is named after the station, which is named after the boozer, which is named after the station, which is...
Altnabreac? Middlewood? Smallbrook IoW? And really keen students will expand this out to non-"BR" narrow gauge stations as well: Dduallt (pronounce that after a few Purple Moose beers), Rheidol Falls, and the, one has to say glaringly obvious, Snowdon Summit

While you can't actually drive to Dovey Junction the road does run right past but there's no carpark.
I assume you're doing it in 'one hit' Dave? If it's anything like it was a fornight ago, expect some moist bits east of Rhayader.

Dovey Junction is a very quiet and peaceful bivy spot until 4.50am when the train announcements blare out.
Anyway it got me up nice and early and 13 hours 22 minutes later I was ordering a kebab in Knighton. Tough route which was a tad soggy in places. I would have had a much better day without the bivy kit and spare clothes but still enjoyed most of the riding. Write up to follow including a very long and wordy section about swearing at gates.
