Red Bull

Post by sean_iow »

This popped up on my local MTB facebook page

http://www.redbull.com/uk/en/adventure/ ... d=26426197

I assume that bikepaking redbull style requires not just lighting a massive fire but then jumping over it in slow-mo

It's promotion for the book again so 10/10 for the marketing team at the publishers.

It never ceases to amaze me that the 'youths' I see in town drinking energy drinks (usually the brands that come in the massive cans) seem to barely have the energy to lift the cans up, or even pull their trousers up properly

Uhm - '10 bikepacking adventure locations in Britain' and no mention of Wales, whereas Wiltshire that well known hot-bed gets a mention

I think you should be grateful :-bd Given the apparent intelligence of the average Red Bull(****) drinker they probably think they need a passport to get to Wales.

In the main, I am Bob. It's just that everytime I see another marketing push for this book, my heart sinks a little lower.

The well known area of remote wilderness the Isle of Wight came second on the list, although the section of forest they recommend is surrounded by areas used for game shoots in the winter and that includes parts of the woodland in the book, which is privately owned. The game keeper is not the friendliest shotgun carrying chap you'd want to meet on a dark night either. Not being on the list would probably be a good thing for Wales  I know what you mean about the book, there are already areas here where I've seen the remains of fires with burnt cans etc. in. I'm not blaming the book, but increased publicity will attract both responsible and irresponsible use and we'll all get tarnished with the same brush.

I'm sure the Malvern Hills Conservators will be delighted that the book tells people to wild camp on the hills. They only just tolerate bikes, let alone camping of any kind!
